A Tour Around SB Nation
Not every team is caught up in Halladay-mania. Here's a look at what's going on around the other excellent SB Nation baseball blogs:
NL East
- Braves - Talking Chop: The Braves' recent first round draft picks haven't stuck around long.
- Marlins - FishStripes: I have a feeling this Marlin fan isn't the only one who has had enough of Emilio Bonifacio in the starting lineup.
- Nationals - Federal Baseball: It would have been fun to see Adam Dunn in the Home Run Derby.
- Phillies - The Good Phight: Is J.A. Happ lucky or good?
NL Central
- Astros - Crawfish Boxes: This is the most important week in the Astros' season.
- Brewers - Brew Crew Ball: A look at how the Brewers hit w/ RISP.
- Cardinals - Viva El Birdos: Mets killer Joel Pineiro is moving into "Esteban Loaiza territory" with his outstanding season. The picture caption here is great.
- Cubs - Bleed Cubbie Blue: A list of all the trades made by Cubs GM Jim Hendry. Hee Seop Choi for Derrek Lee - yikes Marlins.
- Pirates - Bucs Dugout: The Jack Wilson and Freddy Sanchez contract saga makes Neal Huntington look silly.
- Reds - Red Reporter: Off day open thread discussion - which 10 players in the Reds organization would you protect in an expansion draft?
NL West
- Diamondbacks - AZ Snakepit: The Felipe Lopez trade looks like a win-win.
- Dodgers - True Blue LA: NL West bloggers
roundtableGoogle Docs discussion. - Giants - McCovey Chronicles: Giants pitchers have not performed well in the All Star Game. Funny stuff here.
- Padres - Gaslamp Ball: Responding to Padres COO Tom Garfinkel's Q & A session. Sounds like a job for the Padres Police blog, if that existed.
- Rockies - Purple Row: Title says it all - "NL West: The 2nd Best Division In MLB." Times have changed.
AL East
- Blue Jays - Bluebird Banter: The Jays have some solid non-Halladay pitchers - if only they could stay healthy.
- Orioles - Camden Chat: Oriole fans love their stud pitchers.
- Rays - DraysBay: J.P. Howell is flat-out awesome, and one of the few relievers the DRB guys would sign to a long-term deal.
- Red Sox - Over The Monster: The Verducci Effect is hogwash.
- Yankees - Pinstripe Alley: Various opinions about Old-Timers Day at Yankee Stadium.
AL Central
- Indians - Let's Go Tribe!: The Adventures of Andy Marte.
- Royals - Royals Review: RR is fast becoming my favorite non-AA SB Nation blog and posts like this one, about Trey Hillman, are the main reason why.
- Tigers - Bless You Boys: Joel Zumaya throws hard but can't stay healthy.
- Twins - Twinkie Town: Some optimism about the Twins, for a change.
- White Sox - South Side Sox: Remembering Disco Demolition Night, 30 years later.
AL West
- Angels - Halos Heaven: Some Angels fan fiction - Brian Fuentes and Chone Figgins texting each other during the All Star Game that neither appeared in.
- Athletics - Athletics Nation: Brett Anderson came close to a perfect game on Sunday - here are some other A's close calls.
- Mariners - Lookout Landing: Some good statistical satire going on in the FanPosts at LL.
- Rangers - Lone Star Ball: Nolan Ryan may not have lost his marbles after all.
General
- Sabermetrics - Beyond The Boxscore: Prolific pitch f/x-pert (ha) Harry Pavlidis determines that Michael Wuertz's slider is the toughest pitch to hit in baseball this season. Harry's work is featured in the Wall Street Journal.
- Minor Leagues - Minor League Ball: John Sickels profiles Jonathan Sanchez's career.
- Fantasy Baseball - Fake Teams: Adrian Gonzalez and Heath Bell might be available at the trade deadline - FT discusses the possibility.
- Scouting - Driveline Mechanics: Intro to weight lifting. This is a good read, and one of the opening lines is: "Weight lifting does not make you slam Jagerbombs."
- Transaction Rumors - MLB Daily Dish: Erik Bedard and Jarrod Washburn are on the trading block, and may be dealt after the July 31 deadline passes.
