Is there a way to add a poll to a fanshot,
or is that only an option with FanPosts?

Only fanposts
I believe. Not a bad idea, however, for those who want to post a poll and nothing else.
Over/Under 2 balks tonight
Lopez wants it away, and it's hit deep to left center, Andruw Jones on the run, this one has a chance... home run!!, Mike Piazza!, and the Mets lead 3 to 2!!

I'm trying to decide whether
to stay up for this one. 11.45pm here now and I have to be up at 7am, but I do love to watch Big Pelf. Hmm.
Sometimes this team and sleep
go hand in hand.
If NOTHING else--
it is a beautiful night for baseball here in DC. Now let’s see the Metsies make it even nicer with a W.
Let’s Go Mets!

Hi, my name is Dave
and I admit I still watch this team. I can’t stop. Please. Help. Me.
Bernazard is under club investigation
Omar: “Tony, did you take your shirt off and threaten to beat up our AA team?”
Tony: “They had it coming, cabron”
Omar: “I know what you sayin’. %#*$ these damn white people”
I thought the Isiah Thomas years were a disaster…

Bernazard actually was an okay player
Did not realize that. Hit .300 with 17 homers, 17 steals and 28 dubs in 1986. Does not change the fact that he may be a bit crazy, of course.
And somebody creative
Needs to go sponsor his Baseball Reference page
and this one too: http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/bernato01.shtml
Omar’s 1981 season is the stuff of legend.
I saw Sheff in the pre-game...........
….you know when we don’t hit, pitchers start to think they have to be perfect, and when pitchers think it’s tragic……..
LOL
not that schneid is dominating but
the catching situation is at the point where scnheider should get all the starts vs. righties, right? Are we there yet?

Harden, Lackey, Penny, Bedard

Harden, Hudson, Webb, or Sheets
I think their injury histories may drive down the number of years they are after, and make them relatively good value. Sheets won’t cost a draft pick, and Webb and Hudson would probably get more in arbitration than their options are worth, so they probably won’t either.

Pelf would be selling low. I’d keep young guys like Pelf and let them play…this season isn’t shaping up that well anyway, so we might as well stick with youth

So go into next season with the same rotation? I don't agree with that...

Santana needs help, Pelfrey and Maine aren't depenable enough...
by Abstract NYC on Jul 22, 2009 7:31 PM EDT up reply actions
Pelfrey isn't the problem
The defense behind him is. He’s actually quite dependable, although the last start was an aberration; he gets ground balls, he strikes out 2-4 batters per game, and he doesn’t walk anybody. The defense behind him needs to start converting grounders into outs.
But Pelfrey and Niese haven't been the problem with this team
They are good pitchers who are under team control for another several years, and aren’t in danger of becoming overpaid.
Maine has no trade value right now and is also cheap; if he can come back in the second half and show that he’s healthy and able to be a part of the next good Mets team, he’s worth keeping too. The Mets shoudln’t be looking to trade any pre-arb players until they have to.
I agree, Pelfrey has stuff...
Mentally though, the guy is too fragile.
by Abstract NYC on Jul 22, 2009 7:34 PM EDT up reply actions
He's young...

Maybe these guys should stop trying to swing for the fences
Just work on getting on board and go from there. The last thing a struggeling lineup should be looking to do is hit the long ball.

What a dick.
Maybe Bernie could take his shirt off and run out on the field
to challenge the ump to a fight.
What a weak argument by Manuel
WTF!!!!

What did Castillo do?
It just says error by him online.
Wright made a tough play behind 3rd and his throw
was a little low to Louie at 2B and it was bobbled. Then he was ejected.
Very questionable.
He picked a ball that Dubs rushed to 2nd for the force. He picked it open gloved and the ball was just kind of there, resting in his glove.
Not really an error.

Dont forget the National Lineup from the Celebrity and Legends Softball Game.
I mean, Nelly would be an upgrade over Sully.
There's an outside chance that
This team completely tanks the rest of the year so that it’s one of the 3 or 4 worst teams and they get a solid draft pick. There’s a chance right? Maybe Harper slides to us.
how does a draft pick help this team in the short term.....
let’s remember that this team is built to win sooner rather than later……
Possibly
But for some reason, I dont think the Mets will tank enough.

Funny how Kingman was considered a ridiculous strikeout player, but the most he ever struck out in one season was 156. And Wright is on pace for 162 this year.
Of course Kingman hit .204 that year. But still.

Epiphany: I'm a moron
Every night I turn on the game, generally unswayed by the previous game’s results. Just because we sucked yesterday, I think to myself, doesn’t mean we’ll suck today. I don’t expect us to be excellent, just to have more variation where sometimes we stink sometimes we don’t.
This team has slowly broken me. We suck pretty much everyday. Non-sucky days are really just random bits of variation, desert oases. At this very moment I can’t think of a good reason to keep watching. Not one. Yet I’m still here. I must be a complete moron.

that woulda been the 2nd out and Francoeur might have had a chance to throw him out
most likely the run still woulda scored on a tag up
that's pretty weak

It was solid
Any decent team should be happy with 3 runs in 7 innings…The fact that we may have the worst offense ever isn’t reason to expect no-hitters every time out. Even the Nats have a lineup of actual major leaguers.

Which we aren't
That doesn’t make it reasonable to expect all our guys to turn into Koufax. Pelf wasn’t the reason we’re behind in this one…he was solid.

I am not expecting Pelfrey to turn into Koufax....I am merely saying that with all his "potential" and "stuff", and "upside", etc........he should be able to beat the Nationals.
You just said you expect 1 hitters from him

in the current pickle this team is in, yes, I expect him to shut this team down, like he is capable of (suposedly)
The Nats can hit...
The fact that the offense can’t score 3 runs against the worst starting rotation int the majors is not Pelf’s fault.

you can control one of those things with intelligence,
Im not excusing the Front Office for the injuries – they’ve been mishandled too, but it certainly could be better if the GM was confident.

They are lame ducks and getting canned
Mark my words.
Those guys are done.
if the team were healthy
with Jerry: 1 up or 1 back. somewhere in there.
With a good manager: 5 up, maybe more.
just my opinion. I don’t think you could expect much more with the injuries, but he still sucks and needs to be fired.
You should be able to pull off .500 baseball
even with those injuries.
Their pitching has not been stellar on a lot of nights
Pelfrey has pitched below his ability as has Sanatana on a few nights.
Ollie Perez should be out of baseball but even his shitty starts have a lot to do with Warthen and Manuel.
I don't know about that.
If they had this roster opening day, I think we’d expect 70 wins to be a good season.

September collapse?
I’m confused, if we suck all year, do we still automatically collapse in September? If this team “collapsed”, would we even notice? Or would it just look like a normal stretch?

I really don’t want to see an interim GM or Manager that may still be here next year. The solution to this teams issues isn’t in the organization right now. I’d rather wait until the end of the year and address the problems correctly.
