The seller comment was something I left out of my article
but I agree with most of what he says. I’m going to throw my piece at the first guy using the injury excuse in the comments.

Not being Sellers, doesn't imply being Buyers
Honestly what would you want to sell, in terms of getting lots of value? Wright? I don’t really consider possibly dealing a guy like Schneider or Feliciano selling.
I guess the only guy they could sell is KRod, which I wouldn’t be against if the the right prospects were involved.

Hey the Rockies are looking for relief help.
Maybe they’d be stupid enough to trade Seth Smith for Green & Feliciano

Man, the FanGraphs comments
are even more brutal than the article.

One dude bashed Reyes for his career OBP and Beltran for not being tough
Reyes has been the best shortstop in baseball the last three years not named Hanley, and Beltran has played every game with the Mets hurt. Why don’t people think he’s tough?

because he just DOES it
Bashing Reyes for not drawing more walks at least has some kind of kernel of truth to it, or isn’t prima facie ridiculous (even if the guy is a magnificent ballplayer, this is a facet of his game that could stand improvement). But people who bitch about Beltran not being tough are just idiots who prefer cheap theatrics to real athletics. It’s like they wish he acted hurt so they could feel more sympathy. Just like Posnanski has been pointing out for a long time, some fans are so fickle or dumb that Beltran’s effortless grace somehow seems like a bad thing to them.

Beltran
Doesn’t seem like he doesn’t play hurt. he does. But there is a slight air of the whiner about him, hate to say. Great player, don’t get me wrong. I went to one game where he caught a ball on the run, nice catch didn’t dive or anything (effortless grace as you say), and the game was delayed 10 minutes or so as the trainer went to the outfield, consulted, he twisted this way and that, stayed in to much applause. I just hadn’t seen that much time spent in the outfield by the trainer for a guy who never hit the ground.
He hit 3 doubles too in that game.
Say, non-sequitor: Wise made a great catch to save that perfect game. i watched live on mlb.
But the catch i really thought was nice and effortless, albeit it hurt the mets, was Morgan’s grab of Wright’s drive wityh men on the other night. Man he made it look easy.
Just an aside on beltran. Nothing to back it up really, just a sense. And I have it in for him ever since I got him in a trade for his first year as a Met and he totally rotted for my fanatsy team.

Thank you, second sentence of last paragraph.

just like
you have the sense Jayson Werth is an uberdouche. I don’t dislike Carlos, he just leaves me a little cold. It is an accumulation of little things he has said and done. But I get the worship. He’s damn good. I don’t know him, and he seems like a fairly quiet, unassuming guy. Could be a wonderful fellow for all I know.

The problem though is Reyes was called up way too early
His career OBP, .337 is not indicative of the last three years where it was closer to .360. To make like Reyes isn’t a premiere lead off hitter is absurd.

I think you mean "du jour"?
Omar is de facto a bad GM, but I think the jury in this case is Fred Wilpon.

I just like to recognize that Beltran is awesome and enjo it.
Nothing can get by him; especially in a small room: Mike Francessa

I enjoy watching him play
and am glad he is the center fielder for my favorite team, but not all of my attitude towards a player is based merely on whether he is good or bad at baseball or plays for the Mets.

oops
oh yeah i did mean du jure. as in, ’excuse me Flo? whats the soup du jour"
Lets hope that when gut check time comes again the Mets will pass it with flying colors.
