this is one of those pitching match-ups where I used to say you have to win this one.
Now I expect a 2-1 astros win, assuming the mets can even muster one against Mr. Hampton.
Not to mention that the mets don’t “have” to win anything, because the season is over anyway

gah. stupid central time.
I was all ready for a game and now it’s time to find something else to do for an hour.
also:
In before first “how are the schools in Houston?” joke.
Wright will homer tonight
I’m calling it. Lefty pitcher, short porch in left. If he can wait on a changeup, he could golf one out. If he doesn’t homer at some point this weekend, with 3 sub-par starters going for Hou, well then he may finish the year with 5.
Yeah Wandy is Lannan-esque vs. them
Remember that complete game, where Wright got thrown out to end the game on a wild pitch? I think it was ’07.
Chris Carlin is such a bland tv personality
Matt Yallof/Chris Cotter were better.
Lopez wants it away, and it's hit deep to left center, Andruw Jones on the run, this one has a chance... home run!!, Mike Piazza!, and the Mets lead 3 to 2!!

I've never been so angry watching a baseball game.
I don’t even mind losing, but we’re losing with Tatis and Francoeur in the lineup. I really wouldn’t mind watching a team with Nick Evans, Pagan, and Church in the outfield, Wright, Cora, Castillo and Murphy in the infield. But we go out of our way to put absolute shit on the field
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
i agree
seeing young mets get experience would be ok. watching all these replacement level players who are older take the field every night is frustrating.

Minor League Update
It’s pretty much all we’ve got left
Josh Thole is 1-2 with a single
Ike Davis is 0-1 with a walk
Zach Lutz is 2-2 with a double (he’s been beasting it, and really deserves a shot in AA as soon as possible)
Jefry Marte 1-3
Wilmer Flores 0-2
Sean Ratliff 2-2
Kyle Allen: 4 IP, 3 H, 3 BB, 3 K’s, 2 R, 0 ER
Why can't they just show those games
Plus, you ruined the only enjoyment I have. I like to go to milb.com, pick out the Mets affiliates and see if any of our top guys got hits or are pitching well. You took that away from me

Question........(well a theory, really)
So you know how when Omar came on board the Mets became “Los Mets” because of all the spanish players………..I was wondering if that was Omar on his own, or Bernazard pushing him to do it……I’d like to think that Omar is smarter than that………
I don't really think this was a thing.
Also, as far as I’m aware there isn’t a single Spanish person in the majors. They tend to go for soccer. But I know what you mean.

True
I think we should just stop winning and have a record of 44-118. I think that should be enough to get Harper
Lopez wants it away, and it's hit deep to left center, Andruw Jones on the run, this one has a chance... home run!!, Mike Piazza!, and the Mets lead 3 to 2!!

From the NY Daily News......
Assistant GM John Ricco confirms that John Maine has asked for a second opinion with Dr. James Andrews next week because of continued shoulder discomfort. Maine won’t throw a ball until the visit. Ricco indicated that the organizational belief is that scar tissue is causing a pinched nerve.
Billy Wagner threw a two-inning, 40-pitch simulated game in Port St. Lucie today. He’ll repeat that a few times, then be in rehab games soon.
Jose Reyes is expected to run the bases soon, and the Mets believe he’ll be the first significant player on the DL to return.
Gary Sheffield significantly tested his hamstring today. Assuming he feels okay, he expects to be in the lineup tomorrow, and not on the DL to make room for Jon Niese.
Alex Cora (thumb) said he’s good to play, too.
They better not rush back Jose

Wright 2-2 with 2 HR, 2 BB
Castillo 2-2 with 2 BB
Santana / Pelfrey / Niese 7-9 strong innings
