Jon Niese Nickname Thread
In the comments section of this post, JoshNY noted that he is not a fan of the nickname "Jona-fin" for Jon Niese. The nickname is a reference to Niese's prominent, shark fin-esque nose. It's not great but it's a start. At least no one has suggested "J-Nee" or something like that. Chris Berman probably has "Jon 'The Knights who say' Niese" all ready to go for the next time he hosts Baseball Tonight. The nicknames topic comes up around here every now and then, and it's worthwhile to give it some consideration. Here are some other options, which I admittedly haven't put too much thought into. Suggest any others:
- The Shark
- Land Shark (for all of the ground balls he induces)
- Chief Brody
- Jona Finesse (courtesy of squid92)
- Game 7 (Jon was born on October 27, 1986)
- The Telegraph (just kidding)
- Let's hold off on giving him a nickname. Give it more time.
One final thought - with Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, Jon Niese, Jenrry Mejia, and Brad Holt in the organization, the Mets might have a pretty good rotation in a couple years. If the $36 Million Titanic can get his act together it would be an added bonus.

Hmmm...
I like Jonny Nephew or La Sobrina.
Haha, I get it.
Clever, clever. A Los Mets reference there?

I also popularized Jona-Fin Niese.
Since I also contributed Jona Finesse, I’ll voice my support and defend both of them.

I really like
Jon “Game Seven” Niese, if only because it induces a kind of blind optimism that one day he will pitch for the Mets in a meaningful game seven.
The Buffalo Wing
If only he’d stayed down any longer in AAA, he’d have been a native.
The Bends, or Bender.
i like game 7
and land shark is fairly entertaining too

I propose that from henceforth,
Ollie is “The $36 Million Titanic”. Or just, “Titanic”. As for Niese, how about “The Nose”, or “Johnny Nose”?

NEE-AY-SAY in honor of fallen Met, Fernando Nieve.
Or "Beaks" Niese
or John “the bees” Niese, as in he’s the bees knees.
I like the the Bees Niese!
I offered this one in a game thread the other day, but I’ll post it here to:
