The Mets hit three triples against the Astros on Sunday, one apiece by Luis Castillo, Jeremy Reed and Angel Pagan. It was the ninth time the Mets accomplished the feat in a nine-inning game and the first time since June 6, 1994, when Ryan Thompson, Kelly Stinnett and Kevin McReynolds each tripled against the Rockies.
The Mets record for triples in a nine-inning game is four, accomplished just once on May 23, 1970, when Ron Swoboda, Al Weis, Tommie Agee and Ken Boswell tripled in a 14-8 loss to the Cubs.
