How will Omar's "state of mind" affect the Mets at the trade deadline?
"Omar’s around. As I said, he’s not in a great state right now, this has taken a great toll on him, and I think if you guys can give him a day or so, he’ll be back to Omar. And if we can all give him a chance, I think he’ll come back and make this organization proud." This quote from Jeff Wilpon yesterday made me think. How do the recent events surrounding Omar affect his approach to the trade deadline. Is he so crippled that he has to sit on the sidelines, or does he feel he needs to make a big move to try to save his job? And what are the directives from ownership? The next 48 will bear this all out, but I'm a little worried that the desperation to generate good news combined with the winning streak might lead Omar to make a bad desperation move. Thoughts? (And apologies if I screwed up with the chat function)

I say stand pat.
The Mets have been playing some good ball lately, but the last thing I want is for Omar to do something rash/stupid.
If some of the injured do come back and the Mets are able to make a run, fine. Otherwise, no need to deal prospects.
You go to the playoffs with the team you have—-not the team you might want or wish to have at a later time. Or something.
We've got ourselves a ball club, the Mets of New York town!

Not necessarilly stand pat, but ...
don’t make a trade for a “this year only” player like Aubrey Huff or something like that. If there is a deal out there to take advantage of that gets us a player beyond this season I say go for it. Someone like Alex Rios I would have zero issues with.

Someone needs to tell him that Bedard is on the DL
and that any calls from Jack Z. should not be returned.

But I really doubt Omar will do anything drastic/stupid

I lobby Omar everyday
Then I lobby Jeff Wilpon.
Point taken, I should rephrase. I don’t think he’ll do anything stupid before the trade deadline.

I want to beleive this
But Omar is probably looking at his demise (the extension not withstanding) if the team doesn’t make a run. And they can’t make a run with the lineup they have now. I hope he doesn’t do anything drastic, but I feel like this is a similar situation to Duquette in 2004.

Who do you have in mind as his desperation targets?
Maybe Halladay? Cliff Lee? Washburn (please no)? Or something totally out of the blue like Kazmir-Zambrano maybe.

If it ment that we could somehow
get rid of Livan or Olile i would trade for Washburn.I really hope they are talking with Toronto about Rios because lets face it we have a black hole In LF

Rios would be an improvement for sure
i think an offensive upgrade at LF would do wonders for the Mets ability to win games.

Duquette wasn't really in charge
and Jeff didn’t want to trade Kazmir. From what I read, it seems it was more a combination of Fred listening to superscout Al Goldis. Source: Kind of shitty source but I’ve read more realiable sources that back up the claims, can’t find them right now though.
