I feel horrible

for the first time all season. I picked the Mets to lose in the swag. What kind of fan am I!

umm...

Give up 24 Earned Runs in 5 games
Walk 21 batters
Average over 2 hits/walks per game
become the first Met back even though he was the last one we wanted.

I have a tough choice here

Watch the ESPN coverage, which means Steve Phillips, or the Dodger coverage, which means Steve Lyons (awful to the point where you cringe when he tries to force jokes). Could always choose mute I guess.

ESPN really knows how to pile on when the Mets do bad.

They seem to forget about the injuries and just say “How can you lose that many games with that payroll”

SF Giants

If they were to make it to the playoffs, it’d be Ya Gotta Believe Mets ‘73 style. Excellent pitching from Lincecum, backed up by Cain with help from Zito, Johnson, Wilson, Romo and Affeldt. But that lineup healthy, is as bad as the Mets’ current lineup.

They remind me a lot of the mets from 07

The 07 Mets were famous for either splitting series or blowing the third game in series they won the first two.

The Giants I’ve noticed have the same issue. They have only two sweeps on the entire year against NL foes and two others against AL foes. Looking at the lack of killer instinct on that team has me picking them as this years biggest chokers.

Today they lost 7-0 against the Marlins. A team they won the first two games against.

Their last series they blew the last game against Houston.

wtf?

with regards to Halladay I mean

wtf Ron. if you were Halladay and you were willing to consider a reasonable contract offer from the Jays, THEN you could feel aggrieved that they were going to entertain trade offers for you. if it’s clear that you’re leaving as a free agent at your earliest opportunity, then you have no right to be annoyed that your team is trying to get something for you.

I'm pretty sure I had the most comments in one game thread

but Eric never put up a recap. One of the most disappointing moments of the season for me…

Haha

I think the same thing has happened to me before.

That's why with a win today

I think I’ve gotta SHOT!

"We have to find a way to play better, there's no doubt. Overall. I'm not pointing fingers at anybody. Offense, defense, pitching -- we have to find a way to play better. The reality of this is, coming here to Pittsburgh and being swept -- personally, I feel embarrassed." -- Carlos Beltran

It's not like I've been posting random non-related things.

Like this siren.gif

lol I was too

I attempted to do a siren but failed miserably. My lame attempt at a joke.

He has eleven wins, which is all that matters. And I’m sure Maddon knows that he’d never played in an ASG.

And the guy who has more wins is always better than the other pitcher, even if the other guy has a lower ERA, because the guy with more wins has his team score more runs for him…

I was flipping through some of my parents' photo albums this afternoon in search of one particular shot of the sign my older sister made for Mets Banner Day back in the late eighties. Though I didn't find that one — I'll post it when I eventually track it down, and I can assure you that it's Keith-themed — but I did stumble upon this wonderful photo of my younger sister's stuffed animal menagerie spread out in front of a glorious rainbow-festooned Mets pennant, also from the late eighties.

She works for the HRC now and was particularly delighted to be reminded of this photo.

Now that banner day is back, hopefully this years will look a little like this. I know it's not great, but i don't pretend to be a professional. embiggen!
In order to raise extra capital, the Mets have explored signing Kosuke Fukudome to a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training (replete with curiously high uniform number).
