I feel horrible
for the first time all season. I picked the Mets to lose in the swag. What kind of fan am I!

Oh, ye of little faith
What has Ollie done to make you do such a thing.
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but Jerry abuses the privilege.
umm...
Give up 24 Earned Runs in 5 games
Walk 21 batters
Average over 2 hits/walks per game
become the first Met back even though he was the last one we wanted.

I have a tough choice here
Watch the ESPN coverage, which means Steve Phillips, or the Dodger coverage, which means Steve Lyons (awful to the point where you cringe when he tries to force jokes). Could always choose mute I guess.
At this point, nobody expects good Ollie to show up
Ever again. Wish yes, reasonably predict/expect no
I wish Jona-Fin Niese was pitching tonight instead of Awful Perez...

we all do
but i guess Jerry and Omar would rather see Ollie walk the world than see Niese throw strikes

Can they score a run?
Runs and home runs are like small victories now. It’s like this team is Bill Murray in “What About Bob”: “baby steps to catch the pop up, baby steps to first base….”
ESPN really knows how to pile on when the Mets do bad.
They seem to forget about the injuries and just say “How can you lose that many games with that payroll”

Funny piece of trivia
Oliver Perez used to be my favorite Met.
King of the bling come to lay down the evidence//Not George Bush, L-Millz be da president
Interesting
Mackey Sasser was my favorite Met when I was about 9. Then he melted down because he couldn’t throw either. Some similarities there.

it is amazing, this modern world of ours. watching ball in Seattle today and probably going to miss Ollie’s return. oh well(?).

Nothing worse than walks by your pitcher. Also, saw your comment at the latest B & C Mets post – I didn’t even bother to comment but the guy mentioned that there were “rumblings about Livan being named to the All Star team” and he was serious. I had like 3 fat jokes involving Livan’s stomach rumbling but I decided against it.

The only reason Livan would be named to the All-Star Team is if Charlie Manuel decided he wanted to tire out the entire Mets roster.

If they were to make it to the playoffs, it’d be Ya Gotta Believe Mets ‘73 style. Excellent pitching from Lincecum, backed up by Cain with help from Zito, Johnson, Wilson, Romo and Affeldt. But that lineup healthy, is as bad as the Mets’ current lineup.

They remind me a lot of the mets from 07
The 07 Mets were famous for either splitting series or blowing the third game in series they won the first two.
The Giants I’ve noticed have the same issue. They have only two sweeps on the entire year against NL foes and two others against AL foes. Looking at the lack of killer instinct on that team has me picking them as this years biggest chokers.
Today they lost 7-0 against the Marlins. A team they won the first two games against.
Their last series they blew the last game against Houston.

to a mere 7 players in 2010 (Castillo, Reyes, Wright, Beltran, Santana, Perez, F-Rod – plus a couple million here and there for buyouts)?
The Wilpon’s may take on some added salary for 2010, say up to $150million, but adding Roy’s $16million and then a lucrative contract extension on top of that?
I love Roy, he’s the best pitcher in the game, but he’s 32 and has had some injury issues in the past…and he’s a Mormon.

with regards to Halladay I mean
wtf Ron. if you were Halladay and you were willing to consider a reasonable contract offer from the Jays, THEN you could feel aggrieved that they were going to entertain trade offers for you. if it’s clear that you’re leaving as a free agent at your earliest opportunity, then you have no right to be annoyed that your team is trying to get something for you.

Jeter and Stalin as well
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
That should help his All-Star bid.
And I would have no respect at all for the All-Star game

15 minutes or less
"We have to find a way to play better, there's no doubt. Overall. I'm not pointing fingers at anybody. Offense, defense, pitching -- we have to find a way to play better. The reality of this is, coming here to Pittsburgh and being swept -- personally, I feel embarrassed." -- Carlos Beltran
I have to go over
K-Rod is pitching. He always makes things interesting.

How the hell did wakefield get on the all star team?
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
He's actually pitched quite well this season.

he has a 4.33 FIP
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
He's pitched well enough
He has eleven wins, which is all that matters. And I’m sure Maddon knows that he’d never played in an ASG.
"I have discovered in twenty years of moving around a ball park, that the knowledge of the game is usually inverse in proportion to the price of the seats." - Bill Veeck
But he has 11 wins
And the guy who has more wins is always better than the other pitcher, even if the other guy has a lower ERA, because the guy with more wins has his team score more runs for him…
(Joe Morgan)
That's cold man.
Just cold.

another
2 run homer?
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
You got screwed there
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
I'd make that bet

Another reason why wins don't matter
Perez pitched like crap and gets the W, whereas Santana pitched like and Ace with two bad pitches and got the L

That pitch looked outside
Looked like a better swing. Not much to do there.

David Wright should be able to do that.

Lorreta never had a chance.

What the hell just happened?
Why are the Mets shaking hands on the field, and the fans cheering?
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
with ollie pitching it was a sure thing
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
K-Rod never makes it easy
The dude is great but seriously, sometimes he just tries too damn hard.
He was overthrowing EVERYTHING!
