Jerry did say that Livan could be out of the rotation after the ASB
"We have to find a way to play better, there's no doubt. Overall. I'm not pointing fingers at anybody. Offense, defense, pitching -- we have to find a way to play better. The reality of this is, coming here to Pittsburgh and being swept -- personally, I feel embarrassed." -- Carlos Beltran

It is hard to disregard the flyouts entirely
Sure some are ballpark related but he may have been grooving them for that reason.

four and a half outs
but from where I was sitting, that ball was hit hard.

Ollie, Livan, Redding, or Nieve?
It’s like a carousel of terrible!

Linedrive Caught
I couldn’t help but think about Bob Uecker during the movie Major League….“fly ball caught”, maybe the greatest call following several adult beverages.

My God
It was so brutal. I try to convince people on other sites that Niese hasn’t “turned his season around” he just has better fielders behind him. I get answers like “but the Bisons infield defense hasn’t changed.” I’d say having Wilson Valdez at SS instead of Jonathon Malo is a pretty big difference. Or having anyone at 1B, 2B, and 3B other than Wily Mo Pena and Mike Lamb, respectively. Coincidence that Niese has been money since none of these guys are playing these positions anymore? Maybe a little bit, but I suspect there’s some element of a causal relationship here.
But then I look at the Mets current defensive alignments, and I worry Niese may be in for some deja vu if he gets called up.

A little OT, but a friend sent me this link and I didn’t see it posted anywhere.
Appearently the Mets were distracted while in Pittsburgh.
well now we know who to blame
Omar and Jerry are off the hook – blame the furries!
Does anyone else watch Entourage and have a disturbing image of what might have really been going on in that hotel that night?
Believe me
GKR didn’t know half of the crazy shit that those people do.

This rotation is much better ...(sarcastic)
Well, ok, it is “better.” But Pelf has been inconsistent all year. Ollie … who knows what we’ll get from him, but I’m I, for one, have no confidence in him this year. Nieve/Figgy? Again, who knows from game-to-game, what we’ll get from these guys.
Ugh. This is so frustrating.

Pelf's been alright.
Just not #2 alright, which isn’t really a fair expectation of him.

Um, did Maine get a career ending injury and I missed it?

They would be a better team today and the rest of the season
If both Livan and Redding were DFA’d and Niese and their next best AAA pitcher (Fig or maybe Bostick) were brought up. It’s that simple.
I just don't get why they wouldn't...
Send Redding, Livan and Dessens packing and bring up Niese, Kunz and Bostick and see what they can do.
The fact of the matter is, they couldn’t be much worse. You still have Figgy down there as well for when Nieve blows a tire, so what exactly are you losing?
Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but Jerry abuses the privilege.
There's one logical reason...
Omar Minaya cannot admit a mistake. Ever. He can’t argue that Redding or Livan have to stay because of their salary. You have to pay them either way, and you’d be paying their
AAA replacements the league minimum. Redding and Livan were fringe guys who’ve been given more than enough chances. It’s time to kick them to the curb, don’t compound the mistake you’ve already made.
