A Tour Around SB Nation
A look at other SB Nation baseball blogs, which cover teams far more interesting than the Mets:
NL East
- Braves - Talking Chop: Ryan Church looks so happy doesn't he?
- Marlins - FishStripes: Assessing the Marlins playoff chances. Atleast they won't be ruining our hopes on the last day of the season for a change.
- Nationals - Federal Baseball: Jordan Zimmermann is paying a visit to Dr. James Andrews. Uh-oh.
- Phillies - The Good Phight: Is Cole Hamels's 2009 performance that much different from his 2008 performance?
NL Central
- Astros - Crawfish Boxes: The Astros outfield arms and double play turning are bright spots in an otherwise poor defense.
- Brewers - Brew Crew Ball: A cool post about Brewer players contract incentives.
- Cardinals - Viva El Birdos: Reminiscing about Edgar Renteria and opining on his (slim) Hall of Fame chances.
- Cubs - Bleed Cubbie Blue: Derrek Lee vs. Paul Konerko. One factor not covered in this comparison - do they mean business?
- Pirates - Bucs Dugout: Pictures taken at a minor league game of the prospects acquired in the Pirates trade bonanza.
- Reds - Red Reporter: Who is to blame for Edison Volquez's Tommy John Surgery?
NL West
- Diamondbacks - AZ Snakepit: Umpires seem to be missing more calls than ever this season.
- Dodgers - True Blue LA: Ryan Church's 3-run homer in the 12th secured a victory for the Braves over the Dodgers on Friday night.
- Giants - McCovey Chronicles: 1000+ comments on this non-game-thread writeup on what it's like to be a Giants fan. A preview: pain.
- Padres - Gaslamp Ball: More complaints about the men in blue. The umpiring was pretty bad in this weekend's Mets-Pads series.
- Rockies - Purple Row: Advice for Rocks manager Jim Tracy in the stretch run.
AL East
- Blue Jays - Bluebird Banter: Tom shares his favorite things about the United States. I wholeheartedly agree with his first entry. His least favorite thing: crappy American beer.
- Orioles - Camden Chat: A farewell to George "Flat Breezy" Sherrill.
- Rays - DraysBay: Andrew Friedman is blowing up the waiver wire, this time claiming ageless K/BB master Russ Springer.
- Red Sox - Over The Monster: Cristian Guzman might become the Sawx newest shortstop.
- Yankees - Pinstripe Alley: What will the Yankees do with soon-to-be free agent Johnny Damon? He might be a decent option for the Mets, believe it or not.
AL Central
- Indians - Let's Go Tribe!: A comprehensive profile of new Indian Justin Masterson.
- Royals - Royals Review: The title says it all: "21 Things You Could Have Told Me At The Beginning Of The Season That Would Have Led Me To Believe That We'd Be In First Place Right Now."
- Tigers - Bless You Boys: Excitement about the call-up of Tigers catching prospect Alex Avila. He's no Wieters.
- Twins - Twinkie Town: I'd love the Mets to trade for Denard Span, because he's a good player and it would provide an excuse to get Denarded.
- White Sox - South Side Sox: Defending Kenny Williams.
AL West
- Angels - Halos Heaven: Angels reliever Scott Jepsen hit 100 mph according to the Fox gun. Brooks Baseball agrees.
- Athletics - Athletics Nation: Rajai Davis is the A's version of Angel Pagan.
- Mariners - Lookout Landing: Yuniesky Betancourt was substantially responsible for Endy Chavez's torn ACL so I hate his guts. Anything making fun of Yuni is fine in my book.
- Rangers - Lone Star Ball: Lost in this Josh Hamilton photo "scandal" is the fact that his on-field performance has been pretty bad this season (.302 wOBA).
General
- Sabermetrics - Beyond The Boxscore: Comparing FCI (Fan Cost Index) and team winning percentage to determine which teams provide the most value to their fans. Where do you think the Mets fall in this study?
- Minor Leagues - Minor League Ball: John scouts the Blue Jays AAA affiliate, the Las Vegas 51s.
- Fantasy Baseball - Fake Teams: Ricky Nolasco's luck has improved and he's having another nice season. Tim Lincecum is pretty awesome too.
- Scouting - Driveline Mechanics: A great line to open this piece: "Kyle Lohse has been pitching like a giant pile of Todd Wellemeyer since coming back from injury."
- Transaction Rumors - MLB Daily Dish: Alex Rios to the White Sox?

Some interesting comments at DBR (Trade Crawford or not):
I know, personally I’d like to see if we can get Josh Thole from the Mets.
(Crawford) He’d be a world-destroyer if he ended up in the NL. If he’s going to end up somewhere else, I’d like to see him with the Mets. He’d hit 10 inside-the-park homers a year.

I like Rays fans
They don’t seem to hate us like every other fanbase. I also would like to have Crawford on the Mets though I don’t see a path.

I would trade F-Mart for Crawford
Straight up. Would the Rays go for that?

From their comments, seems like they have a crowded outfield and would rather fill other positions
Adding some players, they might go for that (/pure speculation), though the Mets FO might not.

Hey, if they want Thole in a trade for Crawfod
I’d give them F! and Thole. That’s probably enough, don’t you think? At least from the major parts of our prospects. Maybe we’d through in Duda or Lutz too.

Really? There are teams more interesting then the Mets? How many of them have organization employees attacking minor leaguers?

You just stay away from Johnny Damon......
by FreeBradshaw on Aug 10, 2009 6:19 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I'm not sure
if his patented Yankee Stadium RF HRs and bad outfield defense will cut it in Citi Field.
by Mount17 on Aug 10, 2009 8:16 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He'd be at a more Damon like 12-13 HR at this point
if we didn’t have Damon’s Deck out there.
Not all Johnny’s HR are cheapies, the last 2, off Daniel Bard and off Roy Halladay were bombs and would have gone out of any stadium.
His defense in LF is more attributed to his arm too, he actually gets to quite a few balls. Having him and a healthy Beltran out there would mean an excellent defense, provided not many grounders with RISP get through (but how many LF truly do have cannons anyway?)
by FreeBradshaw on Aug 10, 2009 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Sorry
but according to Hit Tracker, the HR off of Bard was a “just enough” which would have been out of 17 stadiums, and according to the eye test, would no way have made it out of Citi Field.

I'd also be worried about his roids crash
