BJ Upton this offseason?
BJ Upton's value seems to have tanked this season, and he's been giving the Rays a headache of late. Do you think the Rays might trade him this offseason? I'm inclined to say that he'd be a great buy low guy. If the Rays were to put him on the trading block, who would the Mets likely have to give up? Would you make that deal? I figured I'd just throw this idea out there. I'm relatively new to AA and have never really dabbled in trade speculation, so feel free to tell me if this is a completely ridiculous question to ask.

I don't think there's any chance the Rays would sell low
They might look to trade him but I can’t imagine it not coming at a high cost.
Also as far as what we'd have to give up I feel like you'd have to start
I imagine a combination of F-mart/Niese/Davis would be the beginning, he’s still young, incredibly talented and only in his first arbitration year
We're finally starting to build a decent farm
Trading for Upton would clean out anyone near ML ready.

There is a possibility they trade Crawford, but not Upton
Even though Crawford is awesome, he’ll be a free agent in 1.5 year and there is a promissing prospect to replace him. Upton is still cheap and their FO is too smart to sell him low.
Alright, I guess I was just bored and dreaming!

its not necessarily a bad idea
maybe for a different team, not us. And god do i wish we could get our hands on Crawford. Probably just as unlikely though

Haha, thanks Eric. I’m a child of the late 80s, so I get fewer and fewer remarks about my namesake as the years go by, but I always find it entertaining when it happens.
In all seriousness, I’m a big fan of your work. AA has completely changed the way I appreciate and understand baseball. Thanks for all your hard work!
