Do I have to watch?
I don’t wanna watch anymore.
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
Andy Green
played in the Gulf Coast League part of this season?
Jesus, this may be a new 2009 low

He was rehabbing an injury
Lots of players do it.
BRING UP NELFI ZAPATA!!!
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
i'll give them he's a good clubhouse guy
they players seem to like him, performance notwithstanding… but im pretty sure wright is gonna keep that title whenever he’s on the field. really though, with the group they’re fielding tonight, who else would you call the leader?
by KeithsMoustache on Aug 17, 2009 6:45 PM EDT up reply actions
im hearing he may be headed to the DL though
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
hmmm, yeah i guess he'd be another good choice
is he starting tonight though?

well out of tonights lineup
i guess it would be frenchy, out of the whole team though, i dont really think so
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
d say that Sheffield is the leader. In the absence of earned trust, you default to the oldest guy that can still beat you up.
by TheBigStapler on Aug 17, 2009 6:49 PM EDT up reply actions
well that goes without saying
he’s like a substitute leader until a real one shows up again
by KeithsMoustache on Aug 17, 2009 6:50 PM EDT up reply actions
actually yeah even better idea
how did i not think of that
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
since Joe Martinez is only one and a half years old
was that picture taken when he was exiting his mother’s womb?

has anyone ever explained why murphy hits cleanup sometimes?
what is the possible logic behind that?
yes, it doesn't really matter at this point
i just think francoeur makes a little more sense, since he actually hits home runs sometimes
cleanup guy is supposed to be able to drive guys in
frenchy doesn’t get on base enough to be an effective cleanup man
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
murphy .312 frenchy .296
^ on base percentages for both
It really should be Sheffield though when hes playing
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
yea, but francoeur has an OPS of .798 since joining the mets
probably won’t last, but that’s better than murphy’s been hitting
i called jerry
and asked him to have socks bat cleanup and play first, but no such luck
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
It's funny
because the Mets don’t have any
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
This lineup
would barely compete in AAA.
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
Where the hell is Pagan?
He’s the only player on this team who has actually hit in the last month.
sully has been ok
i dont mind him getting some play time.

cot's baseball contracts pages states that liven will earn
“$1M in performance bonuses based on starts, innings, games.” anyone have any idea what triggers these bonuses? cause if they haven’t been met yet, the mets should release livan to save some cash.

Those were lean years
I remember I went to a game vs. the Dodgers in 95’ when the Mets rallied from 5 runs down in the 9th. But then they lost it in extra innings when Ryan Thompson fell down in the outfield. Good times.
haha yeah they were a misfit bunch
but it was so fun to see how they would manage to lose on any given day.

Wouldn’t Bowman have made more sense than Green as a promotion? Or Evans? Could have gone Evans at first and Murph at third. Splitting hairs, but still.

I thought the stadium was making them some dough though
Although attendance will surely be down these last 2 months.
I'm sure it is
but it won’t be enough to offset the personal profit that the Wilpons lost because there will be no playoffs at the stadium.

No
i really don’t think so. He still has upside. And i would disagree with that. We just can’t depend on him for 180 IP i think. He is still dirt cheap

For the production
we got in 2006 and 2007 thats definitely worth it. He is still under team control. The only young pitcher with upside who had some success that was Non-tendered that i can think of was Lowry and he had SEVER injuries. Maine we still aren’t sure if he will heal up well
