Mets sign Matz
Looks like we managed to at least sign our top pick this year. A bit of good news is always welcome with this team. Glad the wilpons could spring the 895k to sign him.

Damn if they didn't wait that one out until the last minute
And all for what is basically a rounding error for this team, no less.
Anyone hear about Damien Magnifico?
Mets didn’t sign David Buchanan, their 6th round pick.
I doubt they signed him
I think they were figuring he was bluffing with his contract demands. He’s not attending a four-year college right off the bat, and those guys often sign. In all honesty, he’s a high-risk project to begin with, and not worth anywhere near the seven figures he wanted. Was pretty disappointed when the Mets grabbed him.
I’m more upset about losing Buchanan.

Buchanan and Magnifico were the big losses
I believe they were both moderately hard throwing right-handers. 5th and 6th round picks. We probably won’t miss them specifically but it sucks to miss out on stockpiling talent just to save a few thousand dollars.
