According to Popper and Costa...
An unnamed player told them he was told Sheffield was released.
Hmmm..

Oh, it gets better...
Now, Sheffield apparently asked for an extension, which the Mets turned down. “Now at standoff,” says Lennon.

According to source #Mets Sheffield asked for extension 3 weeks ago – revisited it – no satisfaction. Wants release or trade. He’s on bench

you know the season is over when a man named corey sullivan is your 5 hitter..
i dont think he hit that high in the order on the bisons.

Well, I don't mind the name as much
as the player who owns that name. If a man named Cory Sullivan was good, it wouldn’t be a problem.

wow, Kawakami hasn't won since July 8th
we might actually have a chance today. Anyone read Faith and fear in Flushing’s John diary entry?

why would it be so hard to give him an extension? he can’t have been asking for all that much, he knows he’s going on 41 and his knees are weakening

i'd really like
those SF giants carbon copy unis from last week, minus the huge NY on the front.
What's wrong with the hugh NY?
That’s what makes it special just like the mr Met patch
by Jadden Hopkins on Aug 20, 2009 7:37 PM EDT up reply actions
i loved
the mr. met patch, but the huge NY was just awkward looking. if they replace it with the script Mets logo or block lettering across the front they’d be awesome.
i think its awesome how san fran’s home unis are the only ones in the league that are cream
what about if they replaced the N and the Y with
pictures of Omar and Tony B ?.
or Omar and Jerry ?.
somebody ?. Photoshop please ?.
I liked the big NY
Its just that its an old school Giants uniform. I get the history behind the Mets. I just think that we have enough tributes to the old National League teams. Lets go back to the Mets traditional uniform. Pinstripes with the script Mets logo, no black shadow, blue hat. The away uniforms can either be the old 86 jersey without the racing stripes or our current away uniform with a blue hat.
by aparkermarshall on Aug 20, 2009 7:41 PM EDT up reply actions
the current road
with the blue hat is one of the best in baseball. block lettering across the front is classy

I'm serious.
Moving Wagner is going to be a huge mistake by the Mets.
Putz and Wags combined = 16 or 17 million.
BB-Rod by himself = 12 million.
so for 4 million you have 2 guys with closing experience who can probably share the burden, whereas if BB-Rod is still here, he’ll be a prima donna and want to close every game.
