Baseball's Sad Losing Team: A Poem
(with apologies to Franklin P. Adams)
This is the saddest of possible word
Bruntlett to Bruntlett to Bruntlett
Killer of rally in season absurd
Bruntlett to Bruntlett to Bruntlett
Vicious line drive that seemed destined to drop
Giving the Mets chance to come out on top
This year's indignities simply won't stop
Bruntlett to Bruntlett to Bruntlett
Added by Eric: For reference, Howard's poem is an homage to this.

I have been a Mets fan since 1962
I listened their expansion draft on the radio (I am really old ain’t i?)
This years team is really the most embarrassing I have seen with the possible exception of the Vince Coleman era.
I once was excited that the Wilpon’s took over not anymore.
I am sorry they lost all the money they did to Bernie Madoff. I really am.
Maybe they should sell the Mets and SNY to someone to recoup their loss. Please?

excellent, excellent, excellent
I sense a new AA series in the making — Mets Poetry.
I'd like that
because I didn’t whip out my poem about Johan Santana’s trade to the Mets when I had the chance.
Trying to believe is my full-time occupation.
I've actually been working on one
King of the bling come to lay down the evidence//Not George Bush, L-Millz be da president
I'd contribute
I had a thought about one listening to Wags pitch a perfect 8th on Thursday

Excellent.
I’m expecting a lot more of these in the future, and I’m afraid it’s going to be more depressing than an Elliot Smith concert.
