The Mets won't finish at .500
Don't know if this has been discussed, and it really doesn't matter, but I just realized that to finish at .500 for the year, the Mets need to go 24-12 over the last 36 games.

+ infinity times infinity
Plus the greater the embarrassment, the better off we are (as weird as that may sound).

Well, there's no healthy players left for him to trade.
So we’ve got that going for us.

There's nothing he can really do now to mess up the team.
Well, besides trading Wagner for peanuts.

careful, he'll take that as a challenge
nobody should ever underestimate his power to crush our souls.

I'm hoping the announcement yesterday has the same level of confidence
that Jeff and Omar had in Willie 48 hrs before he got fired. Than Omar can go crush someone elses souls, since ours will still be crushed after he’s gone by the contracts he leaves in his wake

No. But perhaps they re-assign him to scouting and player development
Assign Ricco to GM and virtually keep the same staff in place. It’d only cost a raise for Ricco and the salary of a couple of new assistants. I don’t advocate this process, but it sounds like the best possible result.

I meant more the greater embarassment isn't good
Because it could lead to desperation moves in the off-season.
