that’s just to get back to .500, ladies and gents…
"If on-base percentage is so important, then why don't they put it on the scoreboard?"
69 wins.....that's all that they have in them.
earlier in the year, I said 76 and I was almost run out of town.
in honor of the 69 mets they'll win 69 games
its actually a clever tribute

i know, i know, my apologies
had to put together a dinner for my department, and was there the whole night. I’m in charge of organizing social events. I’ll try to schedule them for off days in the future.

I see Murph is playing his "natural position" today...
He’s batting third.
You don't cheer for the Mets. You drink for the Mets.
So who else
is getting murdered by these streak for the cash golf props today?
Huh? What? This is about the Mets?
anyone know somewhere i could stream the game
im at work, so i dont have access to SNY, and the game is blacked out on MLBTV

Are you allowed to post links to that stuff?
I have a link to a feed if its OK to post it.
im not sure the rules on posting that sort of link
maybe you can give me hints on how to find it? It’ll probably be a more fun game than the one we’re about to watch.
by KeithsMoustache on Aug 27, 2009 1:12 PM EDT up reply actions
thanks
the only thing worse than watching these games is watching them on gameday
by KeithsMoustache on Aug 27, 2009 1:17 PM EDT up reply actions
My office is a little trickier
You can go to the site and DL the stream link, but it limits the heck out of the bandwidth of those types of resource allocations and you can’t watch it.
all these things want me to create a login/password to watch
not sure how much i trust the sites, i’ll stick with the old fashioned method i guess

You shouldn't need one
If you click the link to the Met game it should just open up if you have TVAnts installed.
i dont have TVants
the sites ive found for downloading it all want me to sign up with them to get it so far, still searching

cool
I think you need Windows media player installed too, just to let you know.
i have to say Pagan has done reasonably well in the leadoff spot
all things considered

What a shit lineup

Jerry manages by the book
Chapter 1 says, always battle a middle infielder 2nd.
Chapter 2 says, when in doubt always bunt.
The book is called “How to be a Big Dumb Stupidhead” by Dusty Baker as told to Rick Reilly.
+1
Our former owner gave it to Jerry, but didn’t say it was him

So I was looking at the standings last night
and I think we’re definitely getting a protected pick, with top-5 looking possible
King of the bling come to lay down the evidence//Not George Bush, L-Millz be da president
thankfully there is no way
unless Wilpon gets special permission from Selig
King of the bling come to lay down the evidence//Not George Bush, L-Millz be da president
Then they would get a compensatory protected pick for 2011
which would be extremely frustrating, but potential better considering 2011 is supposed to be good.
King of the bling come to lay down the evidence//Not George Bush, L-Millz be da president
at which point we dont sign them again and lose rights to the pick.
The Wilpons work in mysterious ways.

But I’ll be surprised if they sign 2 new SP. We’ve got Johan and Pelf, have to have Ollie. You watch them sign one SP, then have Maine, Niese, Nieve and maybe even Parnell battle it out in ST for the 5th spot.

I mean, I don’t know either way, but it was a pretty nasty rip….the hammy detached from the bone…..not an easy thing to come back from, especially on your landing leg. He may start to compensate, and ruin his mechanics, and then hurt something else like a knee, etc.
but he won't pitch
until it was completely healed
a friend of mine had this injury, and he plays soccer
and he is back fine. It took 9 months but he didn’t have a professional mediacl staff working on him. Oh.

in a season where I'm starting to feel like a prospecter ...
in continually hunting for silver linings, it is nice to see Redding outpitch Annibal Sanchez.
it'd be nicer to have annibal than redding ...

well if you're into science/engineering its a path i'd strongly recommend.
if you’re on the bio side like me, it requires a fair bit of patience though. For every success there are tons of failures, and half the time you’ll have no idea why it didnt work. But when things do go right its a pretty rewarding field. Plus you get to publish in scientific journals and show off to your friends and family which is always nice.
by KeithsMoustache on Aug 27, 2009 3:28 PM EDT up reply actions
sounds quite cool
what path did you take during college and are there any classes you would recommened to give me a glimpse of how the job feels and far as bio goes im in bio etc. but i’m also a certified phelbotomist
undergrad chemical and biological engineering (the department blends the two together)
the courses that will get you a good feel for what the work is like are lab courses, id recommend a molecular bio based lab and/or an organic chemistry lab. Theyre a bit more of a time commitment than other courses, but if you go into one of these programs they’ll likely be required anyway. If you have the option, look for a professor that lets undergrads do research for them and see if you can do that for some credit, you can usually get elective credits for it. Thats the absolute best way to get hands on experience. Also if you can manage an internship, its great for resume building and learning how industry works (the pay is usually pretty nice too)

we should sign him
and then have him next year
4.48 FIP is better than Ollie, and most of the shit (Redding, Livan) they’ve put out this year. Next year, he could contend for 4/5 spot, and save Wilpons money

Stokes is beneath these 10-3 appearances
but I’m glad he’s here. Still only 1 ER in his last 20+ innings and about 13 scoreless in a row. Beware Orel!
now all 8 starters
have 2 hits. Get Elias on that, that can’t have happened in years.
at least for us

All those "2 for 5" lines in a row look pretty good
but when Omar (or, hopefully, someone else) gets to the task of putting a team together for next year, I hope the supporting cast won’t be so averse to taking walks as what we’ve seen lately.
just need 24 win to get to .500

Yanks claimed Chris Carter on waivers
You read that right. Mets don’t get to look at him till ST now. I’m not crazy him about him but still, arggh
I guess he still has to go through waivers
I assume Red Sox couldn’t trade him to another team or release him or that would be breach of contract. But still, his chance at Spet with the Mets just went poof.

yeah, just read it.
Unbelievably jerk move from the Yankees that should not be forgotten quickly. This hurts the Mets (for not being able to take a look at the player), but more importantly it takes yet another little joy from the Mets fans who really have very little to look forward the rest of the season anyway.
well maybe not....
I would think the Mets would be pretty far down the waiver list…like near the end of the NL, so it was entirely possible that many other teams could have claimed him.
The question is…..will the Red Sox pull him back and wait until AFTER the season ?.
