yes the only ones capable of stopping the mets is the mets
and unfortunately they’re quite adept at containing themselves

Reyes fucks up plenty of times. Everyone who follows the Mets has seen him stick his head up his ass plenty of times He’s a good player, but he would be a FAR BETTER player if he put some (any) level of thought into his own game.
agreed, you're either blind or not a mets fan to not notice that reyes makes a lot of mistakes on the basepath
its not taking anything away from his talent, he’s an incredibly skilled baseball player, but he needs to use his brain.

is that players as bad as the ones we have are bad for a variety of reasons. It’s not just that they lack athletic ability. They also usually make a lot of bad plays. Making the right play is a skill/talent.

I still like that picture perfect swing he has.
He may not be a .320 hitter, but I don’t think he’s a .260 hitter, either. I don’t think this is sheer regression to the mean — it’s early career inconsistency that (I hope) will flatten out in the high .280s.
i'd like to think thats true
but i’ll remain skeptical until he shows some consistency
by KeithsMoustache on Aug 29, 2009 5:32 PM EDT up reply actions
Doesn't really matter to be honest
since if he’s a low power .280 hitter we can’t afford him at first anyway.

They need to figure out what Parnell does well and put him in those situtations. he's not doing anybody any good in the starting rotation.
Parns is short one pitch
I think he could be a decent back-end starter if he can develop a change. Right now everything is the same speed. His fastball is ML quality. The slider is quality. He lacks a 3rd pitch and so batters square him up.
The question is whether he can develop a pitch or if he’s better left as a 7th or 8th inning guy with two above average pitches.
"Those who fear disorder more than injustice inevitably produce more of both." -- Rev. William Coffin
that's funny, on the radio they were saying in the 4th inning all he had working was his change and his slider.
they were saying he couldn’t control his fastball.
I'm speaking more generally
He’s mostly a fb/sl pitcher iirc. He’s working on the other pitches. Fox hit his GS off a hanging slider after Parnell whipped off two devastating sliders in a row for swings and misses. He then hung one.
"Those who fear disorder more than injustice inevitably produce more of both." -- Rev. William Coffin
The idea is to see if he has a future there.
Well, that and we’re nearly having open try outs at this point.
