At least we're interesting

I’m curious to see Bobby P. tonight

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but Jerry abuses the privilege.

me too

is it wrong i’ve been looking forward to this all day?

by KeithsMoustache on Aug 8, 2009 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Nah, what else would you look forward to, a win?

parnell could throw a ho nitter and lose

you know when we do get our no hitter we will lose

by firejerrynow on Aug 8, 2009 9:36 PM EDT up reply actions

haha i've been thinking that for years

but with a 60 pitch limit he goes CG it would be beyond miraculous

by KeithsMoustache on Aug 8, 2009 9:37 PM EDT up reply actions

he'd have to average about 6.5 pitches per inning

haha not gonna happen

but i guess theres always the multi-pitcher no hitter option

by KeithsMoustache on Aug 8, 2009 9:39 PM EDT up reply actions

go parnell, redding, green, socks

for a no hitter… how would you love to have those guys attached to the first Mets no hitter

by KeithsMoustache on Aug 8, 2009 9:40 PM EDT up reply actions

Socks! for closer!

K-Rod for waivers!

figgy yes, redding no, cause then he’d be there nexxt year

haha i was just thinking of the worst combo possible

except Socks, who would begin his run of Cy Youngs by closing out that game

by KeithsMoustache on Aug 8, 2009 9:43 PM EDT up reply actions

and then throws the first perfect game in history

and is mistaken for the ballboy by Jerry, Omar, and Jeff Wilpon. Only Bernazard knows who he is. He gets signed by the Nationals, and with Strasburg leads them to the WS

mendoza line is .200 BA

named after a player who had a .200 BA for the better part of a season, its kinda the lower limit of “tolerable” batting average

.198

think we can make it? washington is really trying hard

9 teams behind (ahead?) of us

Washington .351, KC .391, Pittsburgh .409, Baltimore .418, San Diego .420, Cleveland .427, Cincin .431, Oakland .436, Arizona .450 (we play them next, .450 will go up) Mets, .464. We have the 10th pick, right now.

how bad does a team have to be to get that coveted #1 pick?

by KeithsMoustache on Aug 9, 2009 11:34 AM EDT up reply actions

i wish the Mets could suprise me once and awhile

when I make my pessimistic Benigno-like predictions that mets will get swept here

by Rigsay on Aug 9, 2009 1:08 AM EDT reply actions

Mets dont like to pay their first rounders

So they would probably “Padre” the draft. Ala Matt Bush. Padres passed on better prospects with the #1 pick becuase they didnt want to fork over the cash.

Introducing Buddy Alderson, Sandy's dog, and the newest member of Puppy Avenue!

Embiggen here.
Judging by the comments to Matt Callan’s ode to 1986 Mets: A Year To Remember from a few weeks back, the video has a devoted Mets fan following. Despite being too young to remember anything about that season, it has a special place in my fandom as well. It was part of a two video rotation (Ghostbusters being the other) which ran almost daily on my television for a few years in the early 90s. And it remained a once-in-awhile watch through high school and college.

Unsurprisingly, the physical tape deteriorated over time, and the screen jumps and sound skips made for a less than optimal viewing experience. With sale of the video discontinued, my brother converted it to DVD and gave it to me for Christmas in 2010. See the picture above for the box and DVD. He even created a scene selection function which can be accessed from the main menu. "Get Metsmerized!" plays on loop on the menu screen. It is my favorite Christmas gift ever and is still nice to throw on for a viewing.

"How'd we do it? Mirrors!"
I was flipping through some of my parents' photo albums this afternoon in search of one particular shot of the sign my older sister made for Mets Banner Day back in the late eighties. Though I didn't find that one — I'll post it when I eventually track it down, and I can assure you that it's Keith-themed — but I did stumble upon this wonderful photo of my younger sister's stuffed animal menagerie spread out in front of a glorious rainbow-festooned Mets pennant, also from the late eighties.

She works for the HRC now and was particularly delighted to be reminded of this photo.
