I was at the game on wednesday and I was thinking. What is the purpose of the wall by the pepsi porch, that weird cutout thing? As near as I can tell, it’s just some weird artistic thing and it has robbed at least Beltran’s almost grand slam on tuesday and who knows how much else.

Nobody on the Mets hits the ball down the line with any power, it kills them.

There are two reasons
1) There is a restaurant or bar under the stands. If they made the wall straight and thus gained more seats, it would eliminate the field level view for the 12 people that go there.
2) The design was Howard Johnson’s idea to force Wright to change his swing.
