"We're investigating the investigative procedure of the investigation of Tony Bernazard"---Omar Minaya (he really didn't say it but he would"
Yes
Planned limit for him first game back was 60 pitches – which he reached by the end of the 3rd.

I figured as much, but I saw a comment above that someone felt Maine was done and the team should move on
Well, probably
b/c he gave up that one run in the first and was throwing a lot of pitches to get the 3 outs.
by MetsFan4Decades on Sep 13, 2009 2:20 PM EDT up reply actions
that was me, and the point was that I see nothing new.
I expected a more agressive Maine after all that rehab time.
Instead I got Ollie P. version 2.0.

When Thole/Wright get on base, they should try to steal 2B and 3B.
They can`t really count on the rest of the lineup to advance them.

True or False, Murphy has failed to live up to expectations this year, but the expectations were too high anyway. he's had a nice season and will be a big part of the Mets in the years to come.
I think...
Expectations were too high.
Experiment with him in LF was a dumb idea. Give him credit for switching to 1st in May and working hard at defense there.
Big part of Mets for years to come? Questionable. Depends on whose is playing 1st base come 2011.
by MetsFan4Decades on Sep 13, 2009 2:59 PM EDT up reply actions
Agree on all counts.
He’d be an awesome guy coming off the bench. As a starter on a big market team with a huge payroll, he falls short.
Murphy
Unrealistic expectations = true
He’s had a nice season = questionable
Will be a big part of the Mets = you can’t count on that
This is the worst kind of Mets game. Pitching is decent but no offense. Just flat out boring on both sides.
like the 70s!

Hernandez hit a homer?
If the Philles don’t make the playoffs this year, will it be considered a collapse or since they won last year it doesn’t matter?
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
for the rest of the league it wont matter. for Mets fans it will be a collapse. For philliy fans it will be reason to riot.
Will ESPN talk about it for the entirety of the off-season?
I know the answer is no, but it really annoys me.
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
Not as much as they did about how Josh Hamilton got off his drug and alcohol addiction
He did get back on the alcohol bandwagon, recently, though.
Legend has it, that when the full moon strikes the pitchers' mound at a Mets game, Mr. Met turns into Evil Mr. Met...
He did drugs
but then he stopped. He’s an inspiration to the nation’s kids! Personally, I think the guys who never did heroin are more of an inspiration, because they never did drugs, but then again I some elitist from New York City who thinks actual numbers are more important than edge.
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
ESPN will talk about
*How Beltran lacks the “6th tool”
*How Wright lacks leadership skillz
*How Reyes is milking the injury and was alledgely seen dancing at a nightclub
*How Johan arm will fall off
*How Jeter is awesome and Mauer didn’t deserve the MVP
*How Mets doesn’t have any prospect
*How the Francoeur trade worked out for us
*How Beltran will need a career ending surgery
and finally, how we must break the core.
That and about 100000 other things that are wrong
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
8 games up with 25 to go?
5 games up with 19 to go?
= collapse.
by MetsFan4Decades on Sep 13, 2009 3:31 PM EDT up reply actions
It doesn't matter.
When they lose, it’s because something something. When we lose it’s because of lack of grission, clubhouse chemistry or else
That seems about right
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
Do you guys realize the Phillies close out the season at home against the Marlins ?.
How cool would THAT be ?.
I didn't
I hope the Marlins sweep em.
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
Funny, considering the Marlins kept the Mets out of the playoffs two consecutive times in the last 3 games of the season
But the enemy of my enemy is my friend, no?
Legend has it, that when the full moon strikes the pitchers' mound at a Mets game, Mr. Met turns into Evil Mr. Met...
Yeah
We should have clinched before even playing them.
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
even if we hadn't clinched, we should have kicked their ass especially in 2007.
but…..noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Then hits a grand slam against the Nats. Unbelievable

Three runs against Madson/Lidge shouldn't be too hard
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
Jets winning 24/7
Legend has it, that when the full moon strikes the pitchers' mound at a Mets game, Mr. Met turns into Evil Mr. Met...
Defense looks terrific
Sanchez looks pretty good too, running game could be better though. Out side of Jones’ two big runs, it hasn’t been that great.
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
Francoeur, (pinch-hitter), and then Mr. Contact himself
Legend has it, that when the full moon strikes the pitchers' mound at a Mets game, Mr. Met turns into Evil Mr. Met...
No, but Mr. Contact has never struck out in the majors. No strikeouts means he hits the ball on target
Legend has it, that when the full moon strikes the pitchers' mound at a Mets game, Mr. Met turns into Evil Mr. Met...
Yeah
Even Joe Sewell struck out at some point!
Legend has it, that when the full moon strikes the pitchers' mound at a Mets game, Mr. Met turns into Evil Mr. Met...
Didn't he strike out 3 times in one full season?

But no walks, either!
