Excellent topic. There is one compelling reason to watch every remaining Mets game...
There is only one game situation that has not occurred during a Mets game, but in my bones I feel that the time is fact approaching. Here is the situation: It is the bottom of the ninth and two outs with the Mets trailing by one run. Angel Pagan hits a tracer to left center field that hits the base of the wall and bounces back away from the wall. Pagan has bolted out of the box and although the ball was hit hard his speed allows him to slide in safely at third base. It is now two outs with Pagan on third. David Wright is at bat. He quickly is down 1-2 and at the next pitch he swings and misses at a ball way out of the zone. So far outside that it gets past the catcher. Wright takes off for first. Here the part that makes it a Mets game.
PAGAN INEXPLICABLY STARTS RUNNING TO SECOND BASE FROM THIRD, ROUNDS SECOND AND IS ON HIS WAY TO FIRST WHEN HE IS TACKLED BY WRIGHT. A brawl ensues between the Latino Mets and the non-Latino Mets. Jeff Francoeur tries to break up a heated fight between two guys who were brought up from A ball. Jeff gets hurt and is put on the DL for the first time in his career.
I know this will happen before the year is over.

Jerry Manuel during the postgame interview:
“I think we showed a lot of grit out there, a lot of fire. Especially Pagan. We’ll be fine.”

if they win 21 of their next 15 games, they’re back to .500!

The epic battle
ensuing between Wright and Murphy for the team season home run leader.
You don't cheer for the Mets. You drink for the Mets.
in anticipation of the entire front office being sacked
oh wait, that isn’t going to happen. well I guess there really is no reason to ever watch this team again.

You seem familiar
Do you contribute to other blogs as well? Perhaps John Sickels’ Minor League Blog?

Do you know that people once took walk-in tours of morgues to try and “identify the bodies” the way we visit museums? Or the way we watch Mets games…
