At Keyspan Park in Brooklyn, just watched Beltran take BP. Says he's still not 100 percent. Nothing good can come of this.

Agreed
no one needs 2 more years with Beltran on the DL. Shut him down

Jeez, what a shock
Nothing good can come of this.
Of course not, everyone knows that except:
1) Beltran (which is understandable because he is paid to play baseball and wants to play baseball), and
2) the Mets Brass – who are all idiots.

My guess is that even Beltran knows it.
He just wants to play, though, and is willing to take the risk. But I bet the Mets brass don’t even know the risk. I hate them.

I've got a bad feeling about this
Just know, if there's ever a riot at Citi Field and Oliver Perez was the starter, I started the riot.

Things I am confident of with regard to Carlos Beltran:
1. He knows his body better than I do.
2. He is cautious almost to a fault (not for nothing does he have that steals success rate)
3. He doesn’t give much of a damn about the chatterers – it was obvious before he acknowledged it that he was having some leg issue, but he continued not running balls out, not sliding when it wasn’t going to be productive, etc, ignoring the flack he got for it all
So I’m not prepared to call this idiotic. Hell, he may just want to get back on the field to help him determine whether he should have the microfracture surgery in the offseason.

4, He has a giant mole by his right ear.
the mass of that thing alone has got to affect his weight balance. Maybe that’s how he hurt his leg.

I was going to include that
but I didn’t want my fandom to cloud the argument.

but what percentage is he?
78%? 86%? 45%? Bad reporting from the Klap: Beltran always gives his health in percentages.

yeah but you have to remember 68.3% of all statistics are made up on the spot

Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything.
14% of people know that.

60% of the time, it works every time.

I agree, nothing good will come of this.
Actually, I don’t even understand how Beltran is supposed to be ok for 2010. He apparently can’t even run anymore for more than a week at a time without inflaming the chronic bone bruises in his knees.
So bad that they are seriously discussing some experimental new “micro fracture” surgery, probably in a hut in some third world country.
But yeah, I’m sure with a couple months rest in the off-season, he’ll be 100% good as new for the entire 2010 season. No doubt.

Please Beltran, don't go.
I strained my hip flexor a week or two ago just going on a run. It hurt quite a bit, but I was in training so after a couple days of rest and ice, I went back and played on it. 5 days later, I fractured the growth plate on my hip. This is minor compared to Beltran’s injury, and he probably has less to play for then I did.

Well Im sure Beltran is in much better shape than you are
However, this is just another awful move by a team thats made about 159 consecutive awful decisions.

I agree with the shape one, haha.
But still, I’m no slouch, and i think his shape advantage is nullified by how severe his injury is/could be.
