Winding Down: Marlins 9, Mets 6

Fitting title

The Mets have, um “No offense”. In a twist of oxymoron proportions, their team is actually pretty offensive, when it comes to showing where the money from ticket sales and merchandising is going into – a fiscally pathetic team.

Legend has it, that when the full moon strikes the pitchers' mound at a Mets game, Mr. Met turns into Evil Mr. Met...

I just saw a playoffs commercial talking about defense

and the last play they showed was Endy’s catch. I teared up a little bit.

Is this season over yet?

At least the Giants are 2-0.

what would they call that

the Port Authority Bus Bowl?

I was at that game. Afterwards on the 7 train I guess I looked misreable and some couple across

the train tried to cheer me up. They were 30 year ticket holders and unlike me, had memories of 86. They gave me all this phoney balogna about how we had a great core and would be back in 07 with a vengenance and that we now had the making of a great team for years to come. And that we’d be on the very train next yr celebrating.

But, being the pessimistic realistic Met fan I am, I knew better.

Boy have things gotten crappy

Don't worry!

We have a great core and will be back in 2010 with a vengeance. We have the makings of a great team for years to come and, you know what, we’ll be on this same message board next year, celebrating!

Although I want this season to end I still want to watch baseball and when the mets arent in it it’s really no fun. I cant wait till spring training next year! We’ll have 2 parades one for the Giants winning the superbowl then for the Mets winning the World Series!!!

would be better

if there were a pennant or wc race to watch period. oh well, hope the playoffs are good. go, uh, dodgers?

I go

Dodgers, Cards, Rockies, Angels, Tigers, Red Sox, Yankees, Apocalypse, Phillies

I was rooting for the Giants, which is probably why they fell out of the race

by cjmulrain on Sep 23, 2009 12:10 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'd go

Dodgers, Rockies, Angels, Red Sox, Tigers, Cards, Zombie Hitler, An Asteroid the Size of Texas, Yanks, Destruction of the World, Scum Phils

Beer is good! And stuff!

Dodgers?

Guys, if the Dodgers win, the Wilpons will celebrate and forget that their team needs a-fixin’. Root Giants and get Freddie & Co. mad as hell.

Giants are out now.

Personally I’d pull for the Rockies, but the Dodgers are likely to win the whole thing.

I’m praying for a miracle from Zombie Hitler, though.

If any of you lived in LA

you would not root for the Doyers. Rox, Twins/Tigers, Angels and Cards for me. My old man grew up in Arkansas and was a cards fan till that SI article in around 96 or 97 about steroids and gave up on baseball (yea i still dont get it). Thus I will root for the Cards as painful as 2006 was.

Braves Announcers Pointed Out

That Sheffield was used in the bottom of the 9th with 2 out, yet sat on the bench with runners at 2nd and 3rd in the 7th. What’s your take on this decision? Perhaps Jerry had draft order in mind.

No take

other than that Jerry is just unfathomably horrible. I was at Friday’s game when, if I remember correctly, he let Wilson Valdez bat with the bases loaded and one out…and then had Sheffield lead off the next inning.

Pinch hitting Tatis in that

situation, when he had Sullivan, Reed and Sheff available, was just retarded. But at this point, losses are kind of a good thing.
