theyre just trying to sneak it in under the radar so we dont have to watch
its merciful really, too bad we’re too crafty to be fooled so easily

What's the record for least posts in a game thread?
"We must win and we must know how to win rather than win because we have statistical people."
That's what I said when I saw the starting time.
Just know, if there's ever a riot at Citi Field and Oliver Perez was the starter, I started the riot.
of course fate. The two guys that shouldn’t be playing today, Tatis and Santos, drive them in.

looks like i missed an offensive onslaught by the mets

of course
the mets will win the one time cleveland manages to win. im still holding out hope for that fifth draft pick.
Ron:
when Fernando Martinez, the prized prospect of this organization come up and on his seoncd game doesn’t run out a popup, you know something is very wrong down below.
haha when theres something wrong down below theres often a perscription level cream that can take care of it

Also:
these are the things that cause an organization to examine itself top to bottom….
of course, with the Mets it will be something like this:
Jeff to Omar : you good ?
Omar to Jeff : I’m good.
Jeff to Omar : ok let’s play golf.
I just read that Sabean could be hired if Minaya goes
and part of me just died
"We're investigating the investigative procedure of the investigation of Tony Bernazard"---Omar Minaya (he really didn't say it but he would"
Tried to watch
Gary, Keith and Ron just started talking about how winning teams do all the little things right (after Jerry spouted off a bunch of baseball platitudes during an in-game interview) and I turned it off. If they think that’s the team’s problem, I’m not even gonna bother watching the rest of the way.
well, winning teams also do the big things right
like sign the right players.
us ?
nah, we’re good…..Ollie has upside.
if he's as good as they say, its not terrible given how much they thought he would cost.

well the giants keep me occupied on sundays
aside from that,, mostly lots of movies, work (if only this had an offseason too), homebrewing beer, playing bass, i dunno, its really basically like in season except with 3 extra hours i can use to do whatever i want each day really.
by KeithsMoustache on Sep 30, 2009 5:29 PM EDT up reply actions
ha ha
same here except for the beer brewing.
play guitar, watch WS, watch football.
I do have a vacation coming up in November. More like a mental rehab.
I may go to ST next year. Just to smack Jerry.
Manuel better not be there…
I have his autograph on a ball from last year though.
-Ceetar, the Optimistic Mets Fan
that ball has depreciated in value because of it

It’s also got Jeremy Reed, Cory Sullivan, Jose Valentin, Ruben Tejada and Andy Green. Not exactly a huge bunch there.
-Ceetar, the Optimistic Mets Fan
What type?
I’m devising a recipe for an Octoberfest right now. I know it’s not technically the season to brew it, but whatever.
-Ceetar, the Optimistic Mets Fan
Ive got 3 made and one in progress
a chocolate bock, a wheat beer flavored with skittles (Called skittlebrau), a maple porter, and a mint IPA in progress

Skilttlebrau! haha, that sounds cool.
Not sure about the mint IPA..hmm.

yeah its a gamble

That anti smoking commercial....
the one where the guy is waiting for the doctor to come in the room, and then he comes in 100 times saying “you have this, you have that”, etc.
I keep waiting for the doctor to say “you’re a Mets fan”
haha that would be awesome
that video needs to be made, sadly im not good at video editing.

by KeithsMoustache on Sep 30, 2009 5:32 PM EDT reply actions
I’m convinced the Mets will one day give up a leadoff hit, have him erased on a double play, and then retire the next 25 in a row.

I agree with what you said earlier
they are wisely trying to hide this game from all eyes. Should I even bother to ask why no Evans? At this point, it’s just Jerry showing spite. He has to have heard that people think it makes no sense, and he’s saying a big “eff you” to y’all for even asking that question. Gangsta.
who's this evans you speak of
i remember no such player
by KeithsMoustache on Sep 30, 2009 6:17 PM EDT up reply actions
They made a movie about him called
“The Kid Gets in the Game”. His dad, Robert Evans, directed it.
maybe he's afraid if evans does fail we'll be disappointed
and he doesnt want that, so he’s keeping evans out so he can’t mess up and lower our hope for him in the future. If he never plays, he always has the POTENTIAL for awesomeness. its like when you drive a car off the lot, once you do its value immendiately drops.

On the reverse standings...
we are neck and neck with those Dbacks, 1 game ahead/behind. This win would hurt. Looks like there’s no catching KC and Cleveland, 3 games back of each. And Baltimore has really gone into an NBA-like tank mode with 12 losses in a row. You have to respect that kind of commitment to failure. Where is our commitment???
we even suck at sucking
at least we’re consistently bad at everything

I'm scared that Redding is

One thing is for sure...
I don’t want anybody in any capacity on this team who has ever been connected with the Expos or Nationals.
Period.
Rewatching last night's 8th inning
and as bad as Hernandez’ toss was, Castillo took about a fortnight to reach 2nd base. He appeared to move in slow-mo Matrix style motion. And he didn’t exactly take a direct route. I think he went around the Cape of Good Hope.
oh yeah it takes two to tango on that play
they were both at fault, maybe castillo more so.
by KeithsMoustache on Sep 30, 2009 6:42 PM EDT up reply actions
Parnell is looking good lately
time to make him a starter again, lol. Let’s have him start on Sunday.
I want Tatis to pitch on Sunday
and Jerry should let Beltran and Wright manage the team that day, also.
i would love a crazy shuffle game where everyone plays the wrong positions
it would be a slaughter, but it would be fun to watch.
by KeithsMoustache on Sep 30, 2009 6:47 PM EDT up reply actions
Go volleyball style and just rotate after every out
switching the catching gear on and off would be a problem….but that’s easily solved: everyone where catching gear, even the pitcher.
they have to sign you to a league minimum contract to do that so you get paid for a whole game if they do
by KeithsMoustache on Sep 30, 2009 6:49 PM EDT up reply actions
the survey was do you think the mets will bounce back next year
i think it unlikely unless there are major changes in the offseason, 60% think itll be rainbows and sunshine

ah, I forgot about the survey
I even up above I would vote no, so I guess I am with the 40% who are realistic.

Zimmerman for Wright
the question is, which team would not do this trade? I think both teams would laugh at the other.
who said that ?
makes no sense to me.
I mean, what would the carpenter’s union do ?. they would have to re-tape all those commercials.
its a pretty dead even trade at this point
maybe slight advantage mets on the trade. I’ve always liked zimmerman.

On the bright side
I’m going to see Pearl Jam live tonight. Screw this team and game!

I’ve seen them 3 times live, all amazing shows. They are up there with Bruce in terms of live performances I think.
Even for him that's really long
was it back in the 80s?

They are actually playing in L.A. tonight too
at a smaller club. It’s too bad they aren’t opening for Pearl Jam.
And playing down in Orange County
Creed – the worst band ever, you’d have to pay me a lot of money to see them. Okay, back to baseball. Isn’t it over?
Dunn still has
2 homers to go to get his standard 40….yikes, dangerous spot.
imagine if this were going on with us right at the top of the division
we’d be flying off the hook
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
With the way he falls off the mound
it’s amazing he doesn’t walk even more.
Comedy is
repetition + timing… and this team’s got it in spades.

I figured I wasted 500 hours of my life watching this shit.
As an IT consultant, I usually get about 65 an hour, so, they owe me 32 grand.

is it wrong that i really dont care anymore?
just end the season
This does keep us alive
if either Cleveland or KC sweeps this weekend we are in the hunt for a top 5 pick
Ha !
We need to sweep the Astros to make it to 70 wins.
Ain’t happening. They managed to beat even my pessimistic prediction from back in late July which had us at 73 wins.
The Wilpons really get what they deserve.
They build a shrine to another team, they turn control of the team over to a complete idiot. I mean….fuck.
Oh for god's sakes
I’ve heard so much shit about Citifield, and when I went to go see it, it wasn’t nearly as Dodgers filled as everyone told me it was
What do you guys think goes thru the mind of a classy player like Beltran
when shit like this happens……
I should have gone to the Bronx ?.

Rotoworld writes about Frankie
“Just a complete waste of money. Even though his average against has stuck right around the Mendoza Line, K-Rod has given up 34 runs in 67 2/3 innings this season, making him a thoroughly mediocre pitcher. Not that it’d be the difference in their playoff chances, but the Mets would have saved $8 million this season and probably won another three or four games had they forgotten K-Rod and just kept Darren O’Day.”
His ERA is now 3.72, which is awful for a $12 million closer.
Would this count as a game finished?

I don't think the issue here is Reyes
Why the hell were the Mets rushing him back to get a game or two out of him this season? Woul ANY other professional team in any other sprot have taken that ridiculous chance with a guy who’s value to the team is that high????

well not to beat a dead horse, but...
how do you know the mets were rushing him, especially now.
would you rather have the tear happen now or happen in ST ?.
I really wouldn’t be surprise if someone finds some enzyme deficiency that affects muscle elasticity, or some weird gene/dna shit.
He might have had a chance that he had healed enough to play now.
I think taking extra rest to ensure he had the time to heal before he started running would have been prudent with our position in the standings. 5 extra months could have done alot for ensuring he healed.

by Andrew McCarthy on Sep 30, 2009 8:22 PM EDT reply actions
Carlin said 'new injury' suffered.
So he just tore the right hamstring with the latest running?
Good god – I don’t even know what to say.
by MetsFan4Decades on Sep 30, 2009 8:26 PM EDT reply actions
yeah that means the injury he had before had healed enough
that he could put enough stress on the hamstring to tear it. If the torn ligament were an issue that would have likely failed first. That suggests an underlying problem aside from the poor injury management (which i’m not at all denying is part of the problem).
