i think they may have sat him because hes not good
"Solo homers usually come with no one on base." -Ralph Kiner
only three players in our lineup are good
Evans has much more upside than Cory Sullivan and it’s a mortal sin that Sullivan is playing so much over him
KK
nicely done

Can't believe
what happened to the Cubs this year. It’s not like they’ve got a lot of injuries. Just many under performing. They were predicted to win the NL. Just goes to show you that you can’t play baseball on paper….
I'd like to see Harden in a Mets uni next year
by James Kannengieser on Sep 5, 2009 1:21 PM EDT reply actions
wouldnt mind
although id go for lackey first
by KeithsMoustache on Sep 5, 2009 1:21 PM EDT up reply actions
Lackey is good
I just wish he was 3 years younger
by James Kannengieser on Sep 5, 2009 1:26 PM EDT up reply actions
true
but harden seems a bit more injury prone, neither one is a bad choice, but each comes with their risks
by KeithsMoustache on Sep 5, 2009 1:29 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah without his injury problems
Harden would be commanding huge $$ this offseason.
by James Kannengieser on Sep 5, 2009 1:31 PM EDT up reply actions
true, i guess the injuries make him affordable
so its a blessing and a potential curse
by KeithsMoustache on Sep 5, 2009 1:32 PM EDT up reply actions
Beltran could be back as early as Tuesday?
Hope Sep goes well for him and puts all our minds at ease for next year….
me too
im very anxious to see how his knees handle citi field center

Thole's Fangraphs page lists him as "Joshua Thole"
which is obviously his real name, but still weird to read after seeing it written as Josh Thole all the time.

The only positive thing about this season
is it gave all an opportunity to see what the peripheral players can really do for long stretches of time, not just a couple of days or a fill in for a 15 day DL stint for one of the regulars. Gives you a chance to REALLY see what they’ve got.
Like Figgy and Misch as a starter and Parnell as a starter and Sully, Reed, Cora, etc.
Very rarely do you see that on just one team for half the season…
Figgy, since that disastrous D-Backs start
24 IP, 2.59 ERA, 24 K, 7 BB, 0 HR. Go Nelson.
by James Kannengieser on Sep 5, 2009 1:44 PM EDT reply actions
very nice
hope he can keep it up, we could use a guy like that next year.
by KeithsMoustache on Sep 5, 2009 1:45 PM EDT up reply actions
I like him as a long man next year
Frankie, Parnell, Stokes, Green, Feliciano, Figgy and TBD (maybe another lefty) in the pen isn’t awful.
by James Kannengieser on Sep 5, 2009 1:49 PM EDT up reply actions
that depends on who we have as starters next year
by KeithsMoustache on Sep 5, 2009 1:50 PM EDT up reply actions
Agreed.
Whoever is the odd man out (or two), I’d rather see in the BP instead of Green…
by MetsFan4Decades on Sep 5, 2009 1:50 PM EDT up reply actions
Nice.
Especially since they had no one left when they released Livan.

ugh
he better not be on the team next year
id much rather have Evans
by RangersandMets on Sep 5, 2009 1:51 PM EDT up reply actions
Evans
is not a natural OF though. Sully’s defense out there is far better than Evans.

i think ive conveyed my opinion on evans enough now lol

is better than most. I think he should be on this team next year.

a 30 year old who's been in the minors for the Sox for 4 years, apparently.
Scouting Report: Dominican 1B with a great frame, has really filled out nicely for his age. High power potential with good present pop. Strikes out far too much. In 2008, Lora impressed all around in the DSL, but fell flat during a mid-season promotion to the GCL.
Looks like he was born in NY
Maybe that’s why they traded for him

After being named the team’s Minor League Latin Player of the Year in 2008, he was promoted to the GCL, where he went 0 for 32.
Also, thanks to MLB

Julio Franco has a baseball academy?
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/09/mets-to-sign-japanese-teenager.html
The 17-yr old native of Osaka left Japan after high school in hopes of signing with a Major League franchise, and has been training at Julio Franco’s academy in Florida. Patrick says that Franco will reportedly travel to Japan in the middle of next month to officially announce the signing.
