paperman reigns supreme

John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.

by squid92 on Jan 13, 2010 12:25 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

I still maintain

the Scotty thread is the funniest one. paperman’s post was better, but the comment section was not nearly as hilarious as in Scotty’s.

Really, the lesson here is that other people’s stupidity is our comedic gain.

The Mets lobby Omar for a plan, and his plan, he likes his plan. The problem is that he didn't write his plan down 'cause that makes it paperwork, and that’s false hustle... Know what I’m sayin’?

by Evan_S on Jan 13, 2010 12:31 AM EST reply actions   0 recs

Scotty just didn't know when to quit

I’m guessing Paperman was mortified by the reaction to his thread and left and never came back. Scotty just wouldn’t shut up (as “Scotty” or as “Centerpede 1o1”). I’m assuming he eventually got banned and that’s why we weren’t subjected to his threads any longer.

Somehow, a chain of events unfolded that put Steve Phillips in a professional broadcast booth Sunday night so he could rip Carlos Beltran. Try to explain that in any other terms.

I actually give props to Scotty

At least he tried to defend what he wrote. He was stupid, yes, but he took his lumps like a man. Kind of.

Man, I started out so promising

then faded faster than Molina, you know, running or something #Molinaisfat
I blame a combination of writing for MetsGeek and the US deeming auditors should issue opinons on financial statements, I mean can’t we just take companies word for it.

Anyways, kudos to everyone all around, Eric et al are great but if the community here was anything like other Mets related sites, I would be outtie.

the number one issue facing the Mets is finding that one guy who’s going to say "get on my shoulders and ride me to the championship."

my goal for this year is to write some decent fanposts

i swear i’ll get around to it.. eventually. Scotty was fun, but I think Centerpede provided more entertainment (quantity wise at least). Also I personally enjoyed BigJohninFla’s quality commentary during “Whats it gonna take”. That one was a goldmine of crazy.

2009 Mets Gangsta And Grission Awards – Brooklyn Dodgers Mets Fan

No disrespect to any of the others.

On a purely humorous level, this one:

Francoeur Really Stunk Last Night!

Was extremely funny. Especially schmidtxc’s comment

Man, I wish I’ve been here longer. Good to read up on my history, though.

Oh man that thread is full of good times.

He’s a statistician at home assisting bed-ridden wife. Also, he’s looking for RISP not OPS.

"He's definitely mixing it into his repertoire. That's French for 'repertoire' " - Keith Hernandez

That was maybe the best part

(The thing about RISP and OPS, not the thing about the bedridden wife.)

by JoshNY on Jan 13, 2010 11:54 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

i think the best part is he claims to be a statistician

i wish i knew what company he worked for so i knew which one to never invest in.

I read c1o1

hilarious. And the one where the American Mr Hockey trolls.

"We're investigating the investigative procedure of the investigation of Tony Bernazard"---Omar Minaya (he really didn't say it but he would"

by firejerrynow on Jan 13, 2010 1:39 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

American Mr Hockey trolling was pretty amusing

especially for the permutations of his handle, such as Canadian Mr. Jai alai, Uzbeki Miss Daisy, Biafrian Mrs Pac-Man etc

The saddest thing about scotty

is that his bottom line consists of:
1. no playoffs this year
2. less than 85 wins
3. breaking up the core in 2010

Both one and two came very much true, in fact he looked optimistic. Wright had a terrible year by his standards as well. Luckily three isn’t going to happen, it seems. Still, it’s somewhat a case of his results being relatively accurate while his methods sucked balls.

David Eckstein: so gritty they would eat him in the south for breakfast with some butter and sprinkle cheese.

Damnit

The troll fanposts should be chronological order!! I’m too lazy to figure out the proper order and read them accordingly.

This is stuff is still hilarious, after all this time.

If there's ever a riot at Citi Field and Oliver Perez was the starter, I started the riot.

my God that was terrible.

I've read it like two or three times

It’s still so funny.

The Mets lobby Omar for a plan, and his plan, he likes his plan. The problem is that he didn't write his plan down 'cause that makes it paperwork, and that’s false hustle... Know what I’m sayin’?

Because everyone's talking about it, I just read Scotty.

Oh. My. Gosh. The funniest part is that he named it Scotty. All he did was give the chance for everyone prove that David Wright is amazing. Silly Scotty.

I too

just spent 20 minutes re-reading Scotty and the comments. Incredible work. I feel like I have an insight into the earliest days of the idea that the earth might not be flat.
