Mike Puma of the New York Post reports that Fernando Tatis and the Mets have agreed on a one-year contract. The deal will reportedly pay Tatis less than the $1.7 million he earned in 2009, but he could approach that figure if he reaches incentives. Carlos Delgado will not be back.
This is a solid, if uninspiring deal for the Mets. Tatis can play a bunch of positions and projects to be a league average hitter. Click here to watch a fine defensive play made by Tatis in July 2009.
