Mets Community Prospect List #19: Run-Off!
With Jefry Marte and Matt den Dekker tied at 18 votes apiece, there'll be a run-off between the two candidates for the #19 spot. The player receiving the most in the approximate 48 hour period will be put on the prospect list in the #19 spot, and the other player will be put back onto the regular ballot for voting for the #20 spot, the last spot of the total 20. With that all said, vote away!

two things about Marte people should really consider:
he strikes out a ton and he fields as well as a guy caked with mud.
"Fantasy, reality, science Fiction. Which is which? Who can tell?"
He's actually improved his rate of strikeouts from 2009 to 2010
although its still pretty high.
Sandy Alderson for Mets GM
R.A. Dickey for Governor!
true. I noticed that...but it's still ridiculously high.
and the error-rate…ghastly.

much much better than den Dekker
There’s 4 years difference between these guys, they were at the same level, and den Dekker struck out a lot more than Marte (24.6% vs 17.8%), and even walked less (7.9% vs 8.2%). There are real doubts about whether Den Dekker can hit at higher levels, I just don’t see any reason to doubt Marte.
Don’t see the defense as a big issue either, he’s obviously shown improvement there, and he has the tools to play the position. The 25 errors for a 19 year old in A ball just isn’t that big a concern at this stage.
I also think Marte was starting to break out when he got hurt. He had an 803 OPS in 115 PA after the all star break.
I'm shocked at Den Dekker is winning
Marte’s walk rate for his age is pretty impressive IMO, he’s got considerable upside.
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon (and Billy King-Paul G B)
Maybe he's just suffering from F! syndrome (minus the injuries, kinda)
But I just down’t see a whole lot of that potential on display.
Save Jenrry Mejia!
In lobby for Josh Byrnes/Chip Hale as Mets 2011 GM/Manager.
I think a 19 year old
putting up a .735 OPS, especially when he had a putrid BABIP the first two months, along with an impressive k/bb, .46 rate in full season ball is putting potential on display. Especially compared to a senior bat, who usually have incredibly low turn out rates.

I think the one obvious advantage for den Dekker is defense
but besides that, Marte is the answer, no question.
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
Yeah I hadn't really been following the last few polls
but I would have put Marte in the top 15
mediocrity thy name is Wilpon- jdon (and Billy King-Paul G B)
more than kyle allen for sure
