For those unfamiliar with Gronauer, he's a German-born catcher signed by the Mets back in 2008 out of the German Bundesliga amateur baseball league. The 23-year old Gronauer starred for the German-national team back as a teenager and as a pro has distinguished himself with a solid bat and excellent receiving and gamecalling abilities. Like most European prospects, he's a little older due to a late start in the game but lately he's been climbing up Mets prospects lists after batting .340 with a couple of home runs in his time with St. Lucie in 2010.
His current assignment in the Arizona Fall League answers any questions one might have about the organization's feelings about his long-term ability and with some more growth offensively and a little luck, Gronauer could be auditioning for a big league gig before too long.

Personally, Kai seems like a really humble, nice kid. And I must point out that you'd never know from his English that he's not from around here. He was really easy to talk to and had excellent answers for just about everything I asked him. Here's to hoping he gets a little more playing time out in Arizona and continues to build on his already strong skillset.
