Mets To Announce Sandy Alderson As GM At 2pm Press Conference On Friday

What was once unofficially official is now on the cusp of official officialness.

A little more than three weeks after the Omar Minaya era ended in Flushing, the Sandy Alderson era is about to begin.

A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed Wednesday morning that the Mets agreed in principle to make Alderson their new general manager, with only contractual details left to complete.

The Mets announced on Thursday that they will introduce Alderson during a news conference Friday at 2 p.m. ET at Citi Field.

That's straight from Mets.com so you can be sure the team website wouldn't be spreading the news if it weren't true. This is actually happening, people.
