Late-Night Sandy Alderson News

Yes, this is still Amazin' Avenue, even though it might seem more like Alderson Avenue these days. The Press Conference to Restore Sanity is still 15 hours away but we have some late-night Sandy-licious tidbits.

Alderson's deal is said to be for four years, carrying him through his 66th birthday.
Bud Selig likes the deal, I guess.

"I think it's in the best interest of baseball. I've known Sandy for 30 years. I have enormous respect for Sandy both professionally and personally."

Ron Darling also likes Sandy.

"His impact will be instant credibility, instant honesty. I think that if you ask a question he can’t answer, he won’t give an answer to it. If he can answer it, you’ll get a thoughtful, honest answer. I also think he’s got to be so comfortable in where he’s at in his life right now. I mean, he’s been a GM. He’s worked for Major League Baseball. He’s spent a lot of time in the Dominican Republic. He’s worn so many hats by now that he really brings to the Mets, I would think, the most well-rounded general manager any team could ever have."

I tried doing an Age of Alderson photoshop

following the style of the Age of Apocalypse covers, but I couldn’t pull it off. I don’t want to make it crappy, and disrespect the AoA.
