Mets Community Prospect List 2010: #19
Welcome to the 2nd Annual Amazin' Avenue Mets Community Prospect List. Every poll will include eight candidates for the next spot on the list, as well as a separate group of testers. Testers will be rotated into polls with each new installation, replacing each poll's winner and any name that's not getting votes. After a few rounds, if a candidate on the ballot receives a decidedly low vote total , they'll be replaced on the ballot by a tester.
After the poll, Armando Rodriguez has been chosen as the #18 prospect in the Mets' system with 26% of the votes. To replace him, Kai Gronauer has been added to the ballot. In an attempt to shake things up, the two lowest scoring candidates (Eric Campbell and Scott Moviel) will be removed from the ballot. To replace them, Zach Dotson and Wilfredo Tovar have been added to the ballot. Albert Cordero has been added to the testers. To recap:
- Wilmer Flores
- Kirk Nieuwenhuis

can I ask how he is even cashing in votes?
the guy regressed so badly I find it not unreasonable to suspect a hidden injury….or some mechanical problems + injuries. There’s been no explanation on why this guy who once dominated the lower minors went backwards so badly.

holt
to be honest i’ve been voting for him since around #15.
i’ve said it here before, considering the fact that he’s reportedly throwing with the same stuff that had him dominating in ‘08/early ’09, it’s too soon to just drop him off the rankings altogether. you can’t be too results-oriented when it comes to grading prospects. yesterday’s strong showing in the AFL showed you that perhaps all he needs is a slight adjustment to get back to where he was and then suddenly he’s a top 5 guy again.
now if his command issues persist, he’s hiding an injury or he is seeing a decline in velocity or stuff, then you’ve got good reason to drop him but i just don’t see that yet.

Holt
Yeah, I think he still has to be ahead of Satin and den Dekker. I’ve been voting Carson, figuring he’s two years younger and also a good ceiling. But Holt’s stuff right now is more polished. With pitchers, the stuff just matters more than the results at this stage. You can look at a guy like Andrew Brackman; 5.91 ERA last year in low A at age 23, 5.10 ERA this year in A+, had a 4.19 ERA over his first 8 starts in AA, then dominated for 7 starts there in August and September showing two 70 pitches, and ended near the top of that leagues top prospect list.
Kai Gronauer
I voted for him based on his performance in St. Lucie this year, and because the Mets saw fit to select him for the AFL.
Sandy Alderson for GM!
R.A. Dickey for Governor!
Voted den Dekker
Marte doesn’t impress me much and his horrible defense doesn’t help either.
And from what I can gather on Satin, he projects to be a utility guy that may be limited to 1B.
Save Jenrry Mejia!
In lobby for Josh Byrnes/Chip Hale as Mets 2011 GM/Manager.
I feel the same way about Satin.
But a bunch of people wanted him in, and he’s been pulling in votes consistently, so he’s been in for a while now.
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
I've been saving my votes
for Eddie Kunz.

"We're investigating the investigative procedure of the investigation of Tony Bernazard"---Omar Minaya (he really didn't say it but he would"
I voted den Dekker in round 18
But now I voted Carson for upside.
Gas prices today are a lot like a pitcher's ERA. Anything under 3 is amazing, under 4 is pretty good and anything 5 and up is something you want to avoid.
I want akeel morris in next
HUGE upside

we're down to lottery tickets and role players now
I went with Marte’s upside, though I like Carson as a future bullpen piece. Beyond them, I think Shields is being slightly underrated, I agree with RangersandMets’ assessment on Morris’ upside, though not as enthusiastically, and the same can be said for Goeddel. I like Satin’s and den Dekker’s numbers, though they were a little old for their levels.
Also, not a guarantee, but Eddie Kunz will most likely come out of nowhere (though not to us!) to win the Cy Young and Rookie of the Year awards in 2011.
