Hank White was quite a beast defensively wasn't he?
not a bad ranking for Thole considering a year ago i had serious concerns about his defensive prowess.

Thole seemed to improve quite alot as the season went along and his confidence grew
Worth a shot in 2011, price is right too

yeah, he played pretty well last year
I’m hoping he’s a long term option going forward.

He definitely seems like the kind of guy you love to develop.
No star potential, but like Davis he’s taken big steps forward over the last two years, and in Thole’s case addressed all the initial concerns about him. If he can develop 10 HR power while bumping up his OBP a notch and his D continues to progress, we’ll have a hell of a ballplayer on our hands.
indeed. A little power would go a long way with thole
if he can keep his OBP above .350, he’ll be a pretty solid hitting catcher IMO. He’s ranked 13th in OBP amongst catchers with at least 60 games last season which isn’t bad. If he can get the slugging up a bit he’ll be pretty good. The defense has made great strides in the last year or so as well. I think he has a pretty good future as a ML catcher if he continues to develop as he has.

So, the difference between the best and worst catchers
is around two and a half wins?
That passes the smell test, at least.
How did Mike Nickeas get on this list?

I hadn't heard of around 15 of the guys on the list.
Erik Kratz? Carlos Maldonado? Luke Carlin? Chris Gimenez? Jose Morales? Brett Hayes? Welington Castillo (great name, btw)? Chris Hatcher? Max St. Pierre?
Save Jenrry Mejia!

Erik Kratz. Max St. Pierre. Now those are somebodies.

Ummmmm...
I can’t believed I missed making the obvious “catcher” joke here. Dammit.
