Just in case you weren't already tired of hearing the word "Moneyball", here is the first meeting of the AA Book Club to discuss Michael Lewis's paean to walks, fat catchers and Chad Bradford. Given the construction of the Mets' front office, revisiting Moneyball and its portrayal of our new leaders could be a worthwhile exercise. And the ideas presented in the book regarding scouting, statistics, etc. are of interest to the average AA member.
Starting next week, I'll write a short post about each chapter every other day. It will contain a brief summary, passages of interest and some discussion questions. The chapters are about 20-30 pages in length, so a great time commitment isn't necessary. Just set aside some time every couple days then come to AA and discuss. First time readers and repeat bookworms are equally encouraged to participate.
There's a good chance this turns into me talking to myself. And that would be fine. I'm re-reading the book anyway and planned to evaluate its contents based on all that has happened in the last seven years. If anyone chooses to join in, even better. Pick up a copy of Moneyball at your local library or buy it used on Amazon for about $7.
