Manager: Gary Carter or Mike Piazza?
Of the two greatest catchers in Mets history, do you think that either would be interested in managing the Mets? If so, how do you think that they would fit in Alderson's Mets?

The Mets GM is Sandy Alderson: A Dynasty is Born
R.A. Dickey for Governor!
Gary Carter would love to do it
Please, please do not let him.

Charlie O'Brien for pitching coach, Clint Hurdle as manager

I lobby Yogi Berra!
He’s certainly got experience.

I would like Piazza for the following reason...
Him in a dugout and Clemens in jail would be a nice epilogue to the incident.

On one condition...
he has to wear those goofy goggles while he manages.

Sort of.
Jerry’s were more of the “emo glasses” variety.

I thought this was going to be a question about who was better.
In any case, Carter would love to do it, doubt Piazza would.

Yeah--I can't remember Piazza ever evincing a desire to manage the Mets
or even wanting to stay in baseball after he retired. Carter, on the other hand… I get the feeling Carter would run over his grandmother to manage the Mets. Was it that Gary felt he was too special to get a few years of experience at the upper level of the minors before graduating to the major league job, or did he have some nice gig he didn’t want to give up?
I don't know if he was ever asked point blank,
but I do remember Piazza either saying, or alluding to the fact that he’s happy he’s away from organized baseball, because he has a young kid to raise, and a family, and all of that stuff, and that’s a full time job.

Yeah, I definitely remember him saying that he's happy as a Mr. Mom
Save Jenrry Mejia!
In lobby for Chip Hale as Mets 2011 Manager.
If he likes being a Mr. Mom
then maybe he’d like to take a position with the Mets to change Saul Katz’s diapers.

Piazza is more likely become a hitting coach than a manager.
but I doubt it would happen in the next 5 years if it did at all.

He certainly didn't help the Italian WBC team too much,
but in his defense, there wasn’t too much talent to begin with.

Hhahahahaahaha...
This is like saying that the Pirates 3B coach didn’t ensure a WS victory. :)

I don't know the whole story by any means,
but there was nothing about Piazza or Carter’s time with the Mets, or anything they’ve done in the interim, that makes them standout candidates for the job.
Carter does have a good amount of managing experience
in the Mets system and with the LI Ducks. However, most of that good will is washed away by him quitting when he didn’t get a promotion and then his lobby for Willie Randolph’s job.

I remember that fiasco. Well, that's why I specified upper levels and "standout", I think
since I’m not too sure that 53 games of rookie ball and two seasons in the indy leagues is all that much of an entree to the Citi job.
Yeah, Wally Backman!
