Not sure if I agree with those assessments
I think that Reyes has better than below average range. His problem in the field is concentration.
Castillo’s range might be too generous.
I’m also not sold on Wright having below average range, unless positioning is part of that.

For those who followed the UZR-discussion about range and input bias the other day
The linked conversation is kind of a spillover from that discussion on Inside the Book to BtB. I would read the articles linked by vivaelpujols before reading this stuff. The whole UZR argument is turning into a very interesting conversation, which I think is making a lot of folks think more deeply about UZR (and WAR, really) than they have, including means of using regression, averaging etc. to clear up as much bias as they can, and trying to understand the true value of UZR.
About the graphic, the author says he prepared it “this summer” for an article he never published. So the numbers here don’t represent much of value (I first looked at it and thought “wait, I thought Ike was a lot better than that” before figuring this out).

I think this one is more accurate

You don't cheer for the Mets. You drink for the Mets.

I love that map.
Gonna have to be a new one next season, hurray.

Two things
I feel that WAR greatly overvalues defense, and Bay seemed a lot better out there than that.

Hey, this wasn't supposed to go live! :P
And that data is a snapshot of half of a season. Literally, this is what NYM’s positional UZR was for each member around June of 2010. I posted this in that conversation as more of a “what now?” than anything.

Thanks for the love, but this is the roughest of drafts. And judging by the general reception of the targetview, something that probably won’t see the light of day again.

Yeah I figured
See my post above about when this was made etc.
One thought should you want to use this graphic again: make the 0 line a lot more prominent. I liked the graphic a lot overall once I figured out how it worked, but it was a bit hard to distinguish between positives and negatives on my little laptop screen, especially for those players in the negative (which ya know, are a lot cuz it’s the Mets). In any event, nice work on the graphical side once again. You seem to have a knack for that type of thing.
