Nothing helps with hitting home runs like spiritual lightness!
Is that like being light in the loafers?
I wonder
when we will grow tired of reading and bothering to comment on spring training platitudes.
I think we'd have to be a lot spiritually lighter first.
Seriously, ITBSOHL is one thing, but this is much too batshit-loony to be a platitude.
well
this is certainly good news

Manuel is an idiot.
… “he just seems spiritual more refreshed to me.” Please Jerry just STFU. I want us to win, but god I want him fired.

I am rested after not going to work for 4 months too.
that is saying th eobvious, that is how a player is suppose to be in Feb after a few months off. I use to come back refreshed to work after a week off of work, but that was before kids, now I go to work to get refreshed

If Jerry Manuel was Phil Jackson, I'd erect a statue of him and kiss a photo of his everyday
Alas, he is not Phil Jackson; he is just simply a bumbling and maniacal moron

David's Head/Neck Look the Same
For those of you who read the NY Post article where this picture came from, one of the comments alluded to Wright’s head and neck looking the same as last season’s.
With that said, you could make a case that David bulked up naturally.

I gotta agree on that.

it's good to be relaxed, but WTF?
Francouer has encouraged Wright to play more golf this spring training. Francouer also can take away some of the massive media responsibilities from Wright and get him away from thinking baseball 24-7.
When the two are hitting in the cage, Francouer keeps it fun. The outgoing Francouer is good at seeing the big picture and wants to help Wright to be more relaxed.
"Let’s have fun, let’s play golf, let’s enjoy ourselves," Francouer explained. Francouer then told the story about how he took Wright golfing last year during the season on an off-day. Wright complained, saying that he does not like to play golf during the season. Francouer guaranteed that Wright would get some hits the next game if only he went out for a little golf therapy. The next game, Wright got three hits.
this can only lead to ruin
"We have a plan, and our plan, I like our plan'
it's Omar's world, we're just livin in it.
Also...
Frenchy likes what he’s seeing:
"Seeing how a player bounces back from that adversity," Jeff Francouer said yesterday, "really tells you about a person. David has really worked hard. He looks in great shape.
"I noticed that when he took his shirt off the other day he looked more cut, he looked leaner. I put David up there with the top 10 players in the game.

Golf can f with a baseball swing
I am not crazy about this. Frenchy strikes again.
by Coolpapabell on Feb 21, 2010 10:53 PM EST up reply actions
Well...
I know Ken Griffey was thrown into a pretty big slump his first go around in Seattle. The M’s hired a consultant to help fix his swing. I believe they used the same tehnology that is used for the sports video games to help fix it. I will try to find a story on it for you.
I know players play golf all the time. I personally would be affraid of screwing up my swing.
by Coolpapabell on Feb 22, 2010 10:07 AM EST up reply actions
Well I hope there's no negative effect on Wright...
I would think since he swings baseball bats everyday, and would only play golf on off days and such…. that possibly his baseball swing would be more dominate then his golf swing (meaning he would suck at golf).
I hope it just helps him relax a bit and not effect his swing. Doesn’t David have golf outings during the season for the David Wright Foundation anyway?
Tom Glavine and Greg Maddux golfed all the time
and they were great bunters. Jerry’s just trying to get Wright to be the same way.
2009 Did Not Happen
Because Francouer has shown his intense knowledge of the game
with his quotes about his plate approach thought process and his decision to bulk up in the 08 off-season which effectively ruined his value.
"We have a plan, and our plan, I like our plan'
it's Omar's world, we're just livin in it.
This makes sense now
Francouer thinks baseball is like golf where you have to swing at the ball every time.

spiritually lighter
much lighter
glad Francouer is here, I have been a fan of his all winter and think he will be good for Wright and provide more offense than expected

honestly
if Wright has an 8.0 WAR season again and credits it to Francouer, I don’t care if it’s a crock of crap and Frenchy has a .234 OBP, I’ll love him forever. Maybe they can make him the manager?

Naw
cora for manager, frenchy for 3rd base coach of life.
