well i cant vote now
Because I’m on my blackberry but if “The Animal” doesn’t get at least 65 percent of the votes something is very, very wrong..or Jerry is spamming the site.

If you can't see the poll either...
Carter is at 62%, with Mike Jacobs in second with 12% and Frank Catalanotto in third with 9%. Close enough? Could it be that the Wagner trade actually yielded us something positive?
I jumped on the Carter lobby.
He’s doing amazing, and yet, according to the SNY guys, he’s not even an afterthought, with Jacobs and F-Cat being the only two guys competing for the spot. Carter can play 1st (Jacobs) and the outfield (F-Cat), so he’s basically a younger, more impressive (right now) version of Tatis, even to the point that he hit two home runs in one inning the other day.
I would lobby Nick Evans, but he’s gone incognito, so…

this is so sad
Even AA has forgotten Nick Evans at this point.
I'm still backing him.
I still can’t believe Jacobs has more votes, although I suppose people are rightfully put off by the lack of playing time.
ain't had enough...
Rick Nevins maybe be gone, but he's never forgotten.

Carter can play ...
1B? … and LF? This is news to me. I thought the problem with Carter is that he can’t play anywhere.

No it's actually not
he has good range but apparently he’s an error machine at first, so his defense really improves moving him to the outfield, to the point that he actually becomes an average to above average fielder.

it's Omar's world, we're just livin in it.
Don't we need someone who can field
if he’s going to be a replacement usually at the end of the game.

He can field really well in the outfield
and he can’t field any worse than Jacobs are first. And he hasn’t seen a lot of time in the bigs mostly because the teams he’s been on have had no room. He was with Arizona who had their Byrnes, Quentin, Chris Young, Upton, Mark Reynolds, Chad Tracy and Conor Jackson, and then the Sox where he was behind Anderson and their other first base and outfield options.

Ok. I'm with Gina.
Carter it is. But if things go wrong, I’m blaming you. lol.

Plus who on the list would you put over him if fielding was your priority
Evans? but they obviously don’t believe he exists. It’s not like we’re talking about putting him on the team over some defensive whiz’s, hitting or fielding he’s clearly the best option.
"We have a plan, and our plan, I like our plan'
it's Omar's world, we're just livin in it.
But he's not going to hit like this forever.
He’s eventually going to calm down and maybe even hit a slump … he’s never really seen a lot of time up in the bigs, has he?

look for a trade for Jacobs or..
have him learn a new position down at AAA/AA because Ike needs to play 1B
He's an awful defensive 1st baseman
What psoition would he learn if he can’t cut it at first?

He can kinda be a catcher, maybe.
We have plenty of those, though.

Carter without a doubt
Neither Jacobs nor F-Cat are substantially better than Carter at their specific jobs, and he’s younger then both (i think, he’s definitely younger the Catalanotto). Ike and F! should be in the minors come April, Hessman and Pridie are not standing out, and Evans seems to have completely disappeared from the radar

Also
This is a tired saw, but I really do not get the thought process going on, if Carter, who despite the small sample size is doing if not better but at least as well as the other options, that he’s not even being considered. At the very least, assuming I’m reading his stats right (http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=carter003wil), he isn’t a defensive blackhole like Jacobs. But i guess I should be used to this, since Jerry still can’t seem to grasp lefty/righty splits.

You can check at minorleaguesplits. He is a better defender at the corner OF than 1B.
I’ve been commenting on him in several threads, maybe it would be better if I put all info on a fanpost.
In lobby campaign for Chris Carter.
might work
Is he better then F-Cat?

He should be, but it's hard to judge based solely on minor league defensive metrics.
He should be a better bat though, and he’s already on the 40 man roster.

Reyes to start on DL???
Did anyone else here this? Is anyone else banging their head against their desk? Or is it just me?
Carter. Reyes.
Carter is a beast! Give it to him!
Reyes. “I just experienced a mustard burp.” Lovely way to start a season.
This season I will expect the worst but I will be prepared for 'worser'.

Yes
He won’t be ready for opening day, as originally thought. Gee, that sounds so familiar. Where have I heard THAT before?

Carter
left handed hitter, so Evans is out
"We're investigating the investigative procedure of the investigation of Tony Bernazard"---Omar Minaya (he really didn't say it but he would"
With Reyes out
and a chance he’ll be on the 15 day DL to start the season, that frees up one more extra spot, doesn’t it? I’d go for Adams. Not sure what kind of fielder he is, but he can’t have much less range than Cora or Castillo. I have a feeling it will probably go to Evans though, since they might want another righty.
Who are all of these people who are voting for Jacobs?
Seriously.

trade GMJ and keep Feliciano
I do no tunderstand why this guy doesn’t get a better chance . He is hitting and fielding. GMJ has hit well and may be able to bring something back for us.
Jesus Feliciano is a 31 year old career minor leaguer
Who has a career .673 OPS and never hit more than 4 homers in a season. He has 17 homers in 1240 games and 4238 at bats.
I can't see Matthews getting traded until Beltran returns.
Omar went out and made the move to cover that injury, so I’d guess he breaks camp with the Mets (espescially since he’s been playing well). Feliciano would have to be added to the 40 man, so I doubt he’s anything beyond an emergency plan (and rightfully so).

I don't really even see Omar trading GMJ after Beltran gets back.

I don't either
I think it’s more likely that he trades either Pagan or Francoeur at the deadline.
