I just don't understand the Figgy situation.
What did he do to the FO? Why is he so consistently overlooked? I don’t want him starting on opening day or anything but come on, he is one of the 11 or 12 best pitchers in camp without a doubt.
I'm in agreement
He’s solid enough thathe should have a spot in the bullpen at least, and throwing him away to rush Mejia makes no sense at all.

They're assholes.
That’s all that can be said.

There are no words:
Manuel has been testing a 3-4-5 order of Wright-Jacobs-Jason Bay. Let’s say the manager goes to that lineup the first Saturday of the season and rests Murphy, and Jacobs goes 3-for-4 with a homer. Manuel would go back to that lineup again quickly.
Sigh...
If Rubin is fairly representing the logic of Met management, they would prefer to trust 4 PAs over 2100 PAs when making playing-time decisions (Jacobs is a career 254/313/476 hitter in 2098 PAs). I don’t get it.
My preference is to let Murphy play it out, at least for a couple of months. If he hits, great. If not, Ike Davis would be fine as a midseason call-up. Also, an infield of Jacobs-Castillo-Cora-Wright would be defensively challenged, to say the least. Imagine that defense behind Pelfrey? He wouldn’t stand a chance.
True, Alex Cora will start Opening Day, but Tejada should start by Game 2 or Game 3. If he takes off, great. If not, he’ll go back to the bench for a few days, and Jerry Manuel can pick another spot to try again
So we’re going to bring a prospect up, leave him on the bench (rather than playing everyday like he would in the minors) and judge him on extremely small sample sizes?
Awesome

This all makes me a little sad.

I kind of like the Figgy thing
If we’re too damn stupid to appreciate what we have, I’m glad he’d consider going to Japan where they’ll probably love him and he’ll likely be a full time starter.

Completely agree.
The team has dicked him around since he got his “first call-up” in 2008. If we dick him around more, he deserves to be given the opportunity to leave and go somewhere where they won’t take him for granted. I wouldn’t like it all that much, since it’d hurt the team, but the guy deserves it.

totally atrocious
1. Figgy belongs as the #4 starter not in Japan
2. Parnell and maybe Green should be sent down, they have done nothing to deserve their near lock status
3. Mejia should be sent down or start. That’s right I would not mind if he were put into the mix for the #5 spot. But putting him in the bullpen is a total waste and designed only to save Jerry’s job.
4. Jacobs the cleanup hitter?? You are smoking something Jerry.
5. Tejada won’t be able to hit his weight. Not signing Felipe Lopez was a huge blunder.
6. I give Ollie five-seven starts to show he has something left. After that I cut him, salary be damned and bring up Niese or Nieve.
This season look screwed up already.
Lets Go Mets!!!
Well if you send Parnell, Green and Meija down
the bullpens gonna be a bit thin

Derek Bell is a free agent, I'm pretty sure.
