Martinez leading off

Tejada second…I like it. It seems like Davis id likely to be in the next round of guys sent to minor league camp, he hasn’t been playing much.

Who cares how bad the Bay deal will look in 2013, the world is going to end in 2012 anyway

I'm glad to see Martinez in CF

I think he’s a good defensive CF-er and, if he continues to smash the ball, I wouldn’t mind seeing him in CF on Opening Day instead of Pagan (who, for the record, I do like).

i kinda like Greens new delivery

I think he’ll be a bit more effective with it this year. Also just tuned in but from the above comments I take it Santana was less than sharp?

Santana

the 2 HRs were bombs but he wasn’t fooling anyone with his change today, so there were a couple of lunging bloop hits. He walked Delmon Young, but he was so-so overall.

He was a boy of soft demeanor
And he loved his caburetor cleaner

Neshek, yeah.

He’s apparently also a vegan, for what it’s worth.

Jenrry

1 IP, couple of hits, run, WP and a BB. Can’t say that makes me sad. Not rooting for him to fail but an outing like this – especially one with control issues – will hopefully make management think twice about bringing him up.

I'm rooting for him to fail.

Not forever, but definitely just this spring. The idea of Jerry laughingly talking about Mejia in the 8th inning makes me want to grab him by the throat and just shake the fucking life out of him.

My Jerry hate is getting to obscene levels

I find myself giving dirty looks to anyone I see at the bars wearing thick rimmed glasses now, and people chuckling makes me angry.

He really is despicable

If he was just incompetent, whatever. But he’s really a diabolical, manipulative, Machiavellian incompetent.

Heh, it's funny.

I was home, and was watching the game, but I started to get sleepy around the third inning or so, and nodded to sleep. I woke up, and lo and behold, who was up at bat but Nick Evans? I’m not sure if it was a dream, or if it was real.

Daniel Murphy is 4 for 30 this spring

I realize it’s spring training, but would anyone actually be opposed to seeing Ike Davis on the Opening Day roster?

by Syler on Mar 19, 2010 5:34 PM EDT reply actions

I'm still not fully sold on Davis. I'm like 85% sold.

He’s had a damn good Spring Training, and even if he is more than ready, a little extra seasoning can’t hurt. He can always be brought up mid-season, if need be.

Opening day roster...No

Bring him up in 2 weeks to keep his service time under 172 days? I’d be all for that. He doesn’t provide enough upgrade over Murph to give him free agency after 2015 instead of 2016.

At least not enough upgrade over 8 or 9 games...

by Schmidtxc on Mar 19, 2010 5:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Anyone else think Murph's swing looks much different?

It’s not just his more upright stance. His top hand is really flying off too early. Looks more like Harold Baines with that Walt Hriniak style of hitting. That can sap some power from you. He used keep two hands on the bat a lot more through the swing.

by Mackey Sasser on Mar 19, 2010 6:26 PM EDT up reply actions

That would be because Howard @#$%^&* Johnson told him to change his stance.

…because why stay with what got you here ?.

See Wright, David circa 2009.

you know what I'm sayin' ?

Wasn't it Keith who suggested that he stand taller at the plate when the two were doing their one-on-one training?
