Too soon
I mean, really. 2-8 weeks as of 3/12 is, at earliest, 3/28. It’s not 3/28 yet. This has disaster written all over it.
this wasn't my first reaction to this news.
go back to bed debbie downer.

I'm an optimist, really
I just don’t trust the Mets medical team, and the last 12 months tells me that surprisingly optimistic news scares me.
Had the Mets said that his levels are normal and that, assuming no change for the worse, he’ll be back on Friday (3 days), that’d be awesome. But to bring a guy back on the turn of a dime — especially one whose instructions were to rest — scares me.
I completely understand what you're saying.
with the Mets you can never think too cautious but the season starts in 2 weeks. It’s time to be optimistic, that’s all we got.

this isn't a leg injury
i’m pretty sure it’s rather binary. if his levels are normal, he can play. if not, he can’t. playing won’t screw up his levels, but if his levels are bad then he can’t play.

Keep in mind that he sat around for 5 days prior to getting testing done,
and 2 more before the test results were confirmed.
Who cares how bad the Bay deal will look in 2013, the world is going to end in 2012 anyway
by Stephen Schmidt on Mar 23, 2010 12:40 PM EDT up reply actions
that would at earliest be at 3/26 not 3/28
which would be thursday anyway
Travis Hafner is made of gold
Besides, it's really not a huge problem anyway
My mother has extreme hyperthyroidism, and all she has to do is take a pill every day.
Indeed
This perked me up. Now, I hope he doesn’t over do it either, but I think he should be ready for at least the second week of the season.
good.
Now, how do we get tejeda on the big league ball club instead of Cora?
Note: Do not resort to violence!!!
If there's ever a riot at Citi Field and Oliver Perez was the starter, I started the riot.
If Jose is ready for opening day, then send Tejada down to learn to play 2B
and get him ready to take over for Castillo eventually.

The catch is he's not cleared to move fast
but Jerry thinks this will help him focus on being a 3 hitter and improve his game.

The catch is
he’s now Alex Cora’s backup
You don't cheer for the Mets. You drink for the Mets.
That'll teach him for smiling on the basepaths.

Joooooseeee....Jose, Jose Jose, Jooooseee
I support Jenrry Mejia as a starter. Screw you Jerry Manuel for thinking he's a set-up man.
Now, Jose, no more HGH, ok?

so much fail!
a. for being not funny,
b. for escalating into personal attacks,
c. for abbreviating “jerkoff” and misspelling “blow”
The massive amount of recs up there makes it unanimous.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!
Perhaps the best Mets related news since Livan was cut last year? I wonder if this also increases the odds of a Castillo for Lowell trade? Since Tejada/Cora could play 2nd?
is there even a point to trading castillo now?
there’s nobody worthwhile to replace him with anymore and i’d rather have castillo than tejada or cora.
unless you meant having tejada and cora manning second simultaneously, which is actually…quite brilliant

they could even bat from each side of the plate
when their lineup spot comes up. the platoon advantage would be insane

cora's option will probably vest
please keep that in mind anytime you mention his name. the mets #1 priority this year should be doing everything we can to stop that contract from vesting.

but if two players man second base
doesn’t he only get credit for half a game??
this will prevent the option from vesting

Someone needs to consult Disco Heyes about the legality of that scheme.
He’d know.

awseome news
I am on vacation and didn’t think anything we make me come here…but this news is awesome
I'm more excited NOT to see Alex Cora
than I am to have Jose coming back

that's a bit pessimistic
IMO jose’s awesomeness > cora’s suckiness…just in terms of entertainment/enjoyability

Does Jose's awesomeness> Cora's contract not vesting + cora's suckiness?

next piece of news
“While on the plane to Florida, Jose Reyes swallowed the gum he was chewing when the plane hit some turbulence. When they landed, he was rushed to the hospital with a case of appendicitis. He will be out 6 weeks.”

Reyes is back!!!!
WOOOOOO WOOOOO Jose Jose Jose Jose!!!
This is how you react to this news, not with crap about HGH or debbie downer digs at the Mets doctors. Glad to know all the negative nabobs were jumping the gun.
by Endys Game on Mar 23, 2010 9:10 PM EDT reply actions 1 recs
The only negative about this news
is the fact that I have to lay off the mets medical staff because they actually diagonsed something correctly (at the moment).
If there's ever a riot at Citi Field and Oliver Perez was the starter, I started the riot.
