Niese has some pretty good break
and Barajas hasn’t caught him before, i’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that he just needs to adjust a bit

There is that and that throw he made to 2nd base. Not because the throw wasn't spot on, but his reaction time.
In lobby campaign for Chris Carter.
yeah no excuse for that
but at least its on target. I’d rather see him a bit late than come up too quick and throw it to CF.

timing was better on that one
accuracy a bit off

I don't think it'll end up being that big a deal
they’re just being very careful with him.

A thyroid condition is hardly something I'm getting worked up about.
It kind of falls right in with K-rod’s pinkeye

Maybe this isnt a simple thyroid problem.

I dont know what he has.
And I dont trust the Mets to treat it.

Nice to see Jacobs and Francoeur both swinging at the first pitch they saw

How did he look?
I’ve been stuck with the live update only.
Trying to believe is my full-time occupation.

K’s and groundouts all day

How hard was his fastball?
Do they have the miles per hour on TV? For yesterday’s game they didn’t.
Trying to believe is my full-time occupation.
I don't know if it said on tv but I just rad on metsminorleagueblog.com that he threw as hard as 96
by TheBigStapler on Mar 5, 2010 3:42 PM EST up reply actions
yea he was up around 94-95 with most of his fastballs
topped out 96
by KeithsMoustache on Mar 5, 2010 3:44 PM EST up reply actions
96? In March!?

is ike davis playing today
"The one thing you don't want to do is hit a home run. That's a rally-killer." -Jeff Francoeur
He'll probably come in in the 6th inning of one of the games.
They’ll probably use 2 of Davis, Tatis, and Carter. Carter has been used as a DH, it seems, so I’d say without knowing the announced rosters, Ike will play today.

also where can i watch the st louis game

Their infield defense looks as bad as ours when we had the Coras and Berroas of the world defending.

I like what im seeing from Mejia so far
although he seems to be having a bit of trouble with the curveball not breaking
true, if they overthrow it it doesn't have time to break
its not a real complaint just an observation
by KeithsMoustache on Mar 5, 2010 2:17 PM EST up reply actions
That's why he should start in Binghamton or Buffalo
However, Jerry is manager so he’ll be the last man in the bullpen and get the Socks treatment.
Great news on Mejia
But it does scare me a little. Let’s not give Manuel any ideas

I can't believe Kiner
hasn’t mentioned Mel Ott or Branch Rickey yet.
He was a boy of soft demeanor
And he loved his caburetor cleaner
Though keith did
say “for all you kids out there” on Bay’s double.
He was a boy of soft demeanor

I thought it had something to do with that guy pitching who only K's or groundballs to SS.
Then they hit a flyball to LF. And we was still bored.
In lobby campaign for Chris Carter.
Wow!
My first time seeing him thrown to live batters in a game. Looks good, that’s some movement he’s got.
What the hell
is Kiner talking about?

Igarashi
looks ok. Some nice movement, hit 93, was hit hard but ends w/ a k.

If Mejia and his fastball/cutter makes the team does Parnell make it?
They are similar so would the mets keep both?
I think that Manuel wants him in the team desperately.
The Wilpons may want that also especially if Fmart doesn’t make it.
I don't agree
To me, he didn’t come off to appear that way in his press conferences. I think he’d rather try Nieve in that role right now.
Trying to believe is my full-time occupation.
The Mets do need to win games
If the Mets want to use him in a relief role just until Escobar comes back from the DL (but no later than the end of April), I’d be okay with that.
by TheBigStapler on Mar 5, 2010 3:23 PM EST up reply actions
That's what Calero's for
I guess its not that crazy if its just one month, it’d help keep his innings total in check, but I still dunno. They’re going to protect him start to start, he probably won’t be going more than 5 or 6 innings any given day anyway keeping him under 130 innings shouldn’t be too hard even if he starts in the minors.

I had to miss Mejia for stupid class. Nice to see he was effective though.

I just feel bad for him. At least trade him. Let the kid play in the major leagues for SOME team.
Didn't we fire that guy?

Loved Mejia...
..But I’m going to pull my hair out if he makes the bullpen. That would be a disaster. I would say I’m not too worried about it happening, but really, with Omar being the GM and Jerry clearly pleading to have Jenrry, would it shock anyone?
Now Fernando's gettin in on the act
3 for 3 so far today with a solo homer. That makes him 7 for his first 11 with a homer and a triple. He’s not getting the televised attention but he’s off to just as good a start as Mejia and Davis.

Also, I'll just put it here since its not worth a fanshot
Eddie Kunz pitched a perfect inning, lowering his ERA to 27.00 (no Ks though). Eric Niesen also pitched a perfect inning with one punchout. Davis is 2 for 3 so far, both singles.

Met Starters
Outside of Johann Santana, the rest of the starting staff is gutless.Pelfrey pitches like he’s afraid of being embarassed by the other team.John Maine has no confidence in himself and I think he is glad to be hurt all the time.Ollie Perez,Ollie Perez.Slowly I turn ,step by step, inch by inch.Lefthanders like Ollie are the reason I dislike Sandy Koufax.Koufax is totally responsible for lefties with some stuff but no control lasting too long with the Mets and other teams in baseball. It took sandy 5 years to get it together so the Mets figured Schourek.falcone, and now Ollie will somehow have an awakening.NOT!!
Rec'ed, so I could unrec it.
