For Amazin Avenue's league, I am using this thread to recruit people. Remember, this league will be of no cost to you and will feature this premium software. (The place to start your own league is here). So if you want in, post with the subject line "Entry" and explain why you should play. This is not first come/first serve, because generally I will favor long-standing, trusted members of the site community.
League settings and potential cheap plastic trophies will be discussed after membership is set.
CBSSports.com is an SB Nation partner and paying sponsor of the SB Nation baseball communities. This post is one of a series of sponsor endorsed posts related to the CBSSports.com Fantasy Baseball Commissioner League.

Not really sure what you want to hear when you say “should play,” but whatever. There are certainly a number of people here who have been here longer than I, so all I can say is that I would really enjoy playing in a committed league. It’s been a few year since I’ve played fantasy, but when I did I stayed with it through the end, even if I sucked (which is a likely scenario. That’s good for everyone else!). As long as a spot is open I’d take it. Maybe you can consider it an additional prize for winning the AAOP?
How many teams are going to be in the league? I’m guessing 12.

I’d certainly be interested in playing, as most leagues I’ve joined have been full of players that get bored with the league as the calendar turns to May. It would be fun to be involved in a league where the other players not only have good taste in baseball teams, but actually are statisically aware of whats going on. Like Evan, I haven’t been here as long as some, but the fact they we were still actively participating in the game threads last august and september should speak volumes about our willingness to stick with our teams even if they go to shit.
The keeper league sounds like a ton of fun, It’s hard to find a decent group of people who will be sticking around year in and year out.

I probably don’t qualify since I’ve been here a short time, and I don’t think OBP is important.
you know what I'm sayin' ?

Well I tried to start that AA Minors/Majors Fantasy League but I failed miserably haha (no1 seemed interested) and I haven’t joined a league yet this year although I’ve been doing fantasy leagues for 10 years. I’m usually a creeper on the page but I come out occasionally and I won that “Worst Team in Baseball” Media Guide from James which is so spectacular it just sits on my coffee table and people thing I’m ra-tarded.

I should play because on the off chance this is a long-term keeper league, I’d probably draft Reese Havens.

Because I feel baseball should be played by computers and spreadsheets, and fantasy baseball is all I have until that dream becomes a reality. I don’t post much, but I’ve been lurking for some time, love the Mets, and I’m a pretty OK fantasy player.

Currently have 7 fantasy baseball teams on ESPN. Some are snake draft and others are auction in roto league format. Also one of my teams is named “Fire the Wilpons”

I’ve been reading Amazin Ave for a long time, though I’m not a regular poster. Since I know people are usually in lots of fantasy leagues, I want to be in the league where the members think “wow, if I have to win only one of my leagues THAT’S the league I want to win.” I used to be guilty of joining too many leagues myself, but now I’ve cut down so that I can truly focus on the leagues that I’m in, and being in THE amazin avenue fantasy league sounds like a worthy challenge!

I’ve been here for about a year, and have played fantasy baseball for probably 8 years (since basically it became mass available and I was old enough to understand)

While I don’t post a ton, I have read pretty much everything posted on this site for the past two and a half years (I can’t tell if that’s a good or bad thing.). Also, I won the AA fantasy league last year, so obviously my credentials are impeccable.
Entry
I don’t post here as much as some others, but been reading for a long time and participating. Also playing only the BtB saber league (in which I was 2nd last year) and one money league, so would definitely put in the effort to be competitive.

I think it will be a new experience because there will be others competing to draft Mets players along with me.
Darrelle Revis once won a game of Connect Four in three moves.

My favorite football team is the Lions and my favorite baseball team is the Mets and I haven’t slit my wrists in a warm bathtub yet. That shows my dedication.
I am a seasoned Brooklyn Kickball veteran who has previously led the league in both grission and meaningless platitudes. That shows my inherent value.
I plan on drafting wide receivers in the first three rounds. That shows my brazen single-mindedness.
I scheduled my personal league’s draft on the same day as my friend’s wedding. That shows my ability to multitask.
Let’s do this.

I’ve come a clong way since joining AA early. I went from actually caring about a pitchers ERA to cheering for VOLTRON and the Irish Hammer.
I’ve defended my players and tried to fire Jerry Manuel.
Also, I am in a men’s softball league on a team where we have actually struck out during an inning. That’s gotta count for something.
"We have to find a way to play better, there's no doubt. Overall. I'm not pointing fingers at anybody. Offense, defense, pitching -- we have to find a way to play better. The reality of this is, coming here to Pittsburgh and being swept -- personally, I feel embarrassed." -- Carlos Beltran

Other than the Mets and summer softball leagues, fantasy baseball is my biggest hobby. I definitely haven’t been here as long or as loud as others, but I am currently a full-on, kool-aid drinking AA brain-eating zombie. In addition, my enthusiasm is currently limited to ONE other league because I have yet to find another as committed as my original. My interest in this league would triple if it were going to involve advanced meteics as stat categories.

i registered the name movaughn on twitter a long time ago and forgot about it but will start updating it regularly if i get in the league. expect both the noise and the funk to be broughten.
so basically fun times for everyone! plus i’ll probably start updating mo vaughn’s fake twitter anyway, so really we’re all big winners no matter what.

Not only do i love the Mets, I also love fantasy baseball and have been quite successful in my leagues. I think i would be a great addition to a league as i have also been commishener in several leagues so i know all the rules and i know how difficult the job can be sometimes

Of course, I’m a die-hard Mets fan and I love baseball in general. I’ve been a member of the AA community for a fairly long time, and an active one at that. I’ve been in multiple fantasy leagues, and no matter how I’m doing, I’m always an active owner, because zombie teams suck. And I’m likely no threat to win, given that I finished 7th and 5th in my two leagues last season.

I have not been a long-standing OR upstanding member of AA however:
- AA member since May 08 w/51 posts and 10,714 comments.
- I did participate in both fantasy AA leagues last year.
- I blew the doors off of one league and made it to the championship only to lose it.
- The second AA league I came in 7th.
- I managed a total of 13 total leagues last year; 12 yahoo and 1 ESPN. Out of those 13, I was in three championships; didn’t win a single one. Look, I may be a loser, but at least I’m honest and I gave it max effort. (Did I mention, self deprecating?)
- I told myself I would only manage two teams this year, but how could I resist the temptation to manage one more team? All for the glory of AA!
- I may be from the south but I have Brooklyn Dodgers BLUE blood coursing through my veins and I have a New York Giant ORANGE fire passion for cheering on "our’ Mets.
(It would be an honor to compete against some of my AA brethren).
This season I will expect the worst but I will be prepared for 'worser'.

I should be allowed to play because I played 8 teams last year and drafted so many Mets, that I should be allowed to play because you feel bad for me for how much I got robbed last year! :-P
I also learned not to be such a homer when I draft.
Entry
I should be allowed into the league because now that Carlos Delgado is gone I have a huge hole in my heart that can only be filled by fantasy baseball.
I’ve played in many leagues and have been scouting players since last year ended.
I never give up even if my team is hopelessly back.
I know that you have a picture of Mos Def in a Mets hat.
I know tons of hip hop lines for example “moma cooked the breakfast with no hog”, “this way there’s no broke willie gambling their re-up and we could have a pleasant time sipping margaritas”, and “beef is Iraq west bank and gaza strip”
I already have a CBS account and I have a great picture of RZA meditating but it looks like he is taking a dump that I will use in my profile.
Thats all I have to say about that

I think I should be allowed to participate in the league because I was part of the unofficial Amazin Avenue Yahoo League last year and I got my ass kicked. This will be an opportunity to redeem myself.
Also, I graduate from law school in May and won’t be working until at least 2011, so I’ll have plenty of time to devote to fielding a competitive team.

I lobby for AA fantasy spot because I would be devoted to my team throughout the year, and have been an active member of the site for almost 3 years (going to back to pre-SBNation).

Although I would consider myself a long standing member of the community (I was a member in 2005 under a different username), I’m not the most frequent commenter. I don’t always feel that it is necessary for me to involve myself in the arguments.
I like Fantasy Baseball and I seem to have a natural knack for it. I love picking a handful of young players who I think will be productive in the upcoming season. Importantly, it would be nice to be in a league that would keep my interest for more than a few weeks.
I also dislike Mario Lopez, and I’m still looking for a Lastings Milledge do-rag.
Trying to believe is my full-time occupation.

I’ve been a member of AA since September, which is as soon as I discovered it. I spend all my time in my mother’s basement so I have lots of time to dedicate to a fantasy baseball team. I also won 2 out of the 3 leagues I played last year if that means anything, but it might just have been SSS (small sample size).
Entry
Been a member since last year although I’ve been lurking more than usual recently (I blame law school). I love fantasy baseball (was 1st and 3rd in two leagues last season) and have been able to keep my focus on the game throughout the whole season unlike most other people who try (I think 2 or 3 from my football league this year gave out halfway through). I’m a huge fan of AA and I think it would be great to play with you guys

I love this stuff. Play in multiple fantasy leagues in each sport. I’m in if you want, and I won’t be one of those tools who falls in to last place and never shows up again (well, maybe I will fall into last, but I will stay up to date til the end). Been in Arizona and been busy doing shit so I haven’t been on AA as much as I have liked, this would be fun. Let me know.

Not sure if I’m too late. I was a fan of the league last year, though drafting right after Mark, Gina and Sam was not fun. I think I came in 3rd or 4th and was pretty happy considering my team reflected the 09 Mets in the injury department. I try to only join one league a year and love the competition that the AA league brings.
The causative relationship is that talent (plus luck) leads to wins. And that talent (plus service time) leads to payrolls.

I’ve never played fantasy baseball, so I would be the leading candidate to be the punch bag. You would chose me if you secretly don’t feel confident to do well and fear you’ll be mocked if you are sitting in the last place. I don’t know how many roster spots are there, but I think I’ll draft Socks! or Carter with my last pick.
In lobby campaign for Chris Carter.

i’m late to the party on this one but if there’s still space, i’d love to break my 2 year hiatus and get back into a good fantasy league. i got fed up w/ crappy leagues/managers so i quit for a while but this one is too tempting to pass up.
for the record, i only play one league a year and i’m never one of those people that loses interest mid-season.
