He's in camp, Warthen said he'd likely pitch in his first game this weekend.

I believe he has his first bullpen tomorrow.

Lol I tried to rent it

but out of 3 blockbusters in my hometown not one had it in stock. And unfortunately there’s multiple games above it that I have to save pennys for. It’s like for the first 2-3 years of owning a ps3 like one decent game came out every 2 months, and all of a sudden in the year I have no money they want to release an awesome game every other week.

Yeah I'm kind of torn on GoW

I love the games. I think they’re insanely fun, but I’ve never been as massive a fan of them as most people seem to be. I definitely don’t think I love then 60 bucks worth. The only games I’m excited enough about to pay full price for them are Red Dead Redemption, La Noire and Alpha Protocol, though who knows when, if ever, they’ll get released. The next game, and probably last until sometime between June and October, will probably be the gta iv expansions.

Me too

which is why the last two games I bought were Shadow of the Colossus and Mass Effect, 20 bucks each. However, for Christmas, I got Uncharted 2 and Modern Warfare 2, I just didn’t pay for them.

Do you like Mass Effect.

I loved it, can’t wait to get Mass Effect 2 when the price goes down.

by Delgado on Mar 9, 2010 1:04 PM EST up reply actions

I loved it too

The only thing I didn’t like was the repetitiveness of going in the Mako every time you landed on a planet and the menus. Other than that though, it was fantastic.

No Mako and the side missions aren’t repetitive. The only really annoying thing is scanning unexplored planets.

by Gina on Mar 9, 2010 3:33 PM EST up reply actions

I expected to love Mass Effect

but I absolutely despised the gameplay. I found it incredibly repetitive and not a whole lot of fun, and the fact that if you died after a cutscene, you had to watch the entire cutscene again made me want to rip my hair out. I thought they eliminated that problem from video games back in 1998…there’s no reason for a game released in 2006 to have it.

I kept trying to get past the flaws for the story, which seemed like it was going to be pretty awesome, but I just couldn’t. Now that ME2 is out and apparently fixed a lot of the boring gameplay, and carries over your save from the first game (something I’ve been wanting video game series to be able to do for years), I’ve been pondering giving the first one another chance. I just don’t know if it’s worth it (especially since I’m 90% sure I deleted the saved game file I had)

The Suikoden series has been carrying on gameplay information from game to game since Suikoden II, in 1998.

Each loaded save gives you additional story/characters/items/etc. in the next game, relevant to the previous one.

The Suikoden series is my fave RPG

I didn’t like 3 and 4 but 1, 2, and 5 were awesome. I hope they make a new one soon.

by Brittannia on Mar 9, 2010 7:39 PM EST up reply actions

I didn't like 3 the first time, either, because it took like 70 hours.

I replayed it a few weeks ago, and it grew on me. It used to be by least favorite, but that dubious honor goes to 4- and, really, 4 wasn’t necessarily bad, per se, but it’s the weakest of the bunch. Maybe Tekenreis is the weakest, technically, but I don’t really consider that a Suikoden game. Tactics was kind of fun. Gaiden, unfortunately, they’ll never release here, which sucks majorly.

by Brooklyn Dodgers Mets Fan on Mar 9, 2010 8:32 PM EST up reply actions

Was 3 the one on the boat or was that 4?

I think the change from sprite based images to polygons turned me off the PS2 Suikodens. I liked the look of 5 and hope they continue that in that direction.

by Brittannia on Mar 9, 2010 9:29 PM EST up reply actions

3 was the Grasslands. 4 was the Island-Nations and the boat.

by Brooklyn Dodgers Mets Fan on Mar 9, 2010 11:28 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

It is repetitive sometimes. The story is great though and worth playing. The only thing I can say is to save a lot.

And if you think that is bad, you haven’t played Demon’s Souls. That is the hardest game of all time. There is no saving in that game, you level up and buy things with souls that you get by killing the enemies, but if you die you lose all of your souls, and every time you die, you start right back at the beginning. After the first death, you can get all the souls back by fighting your way to where you died, but if you die before you get them back, they’re gone forever. When you start playing, you’re pretty much committing yourself to playing until you beat the boss at the end of the level, or you’re gonna lose all the souls you got for yourself. It’s fun, but a video game has never been so disheartening. The first time you lose the 10000 or 20000 souls you got, you just don’t want to play anymore. Oh, and the absolute one thing I hate about that game is that there is no pause button. You can’t freakin’ pause the game at any point. Going in menu to swap out gear doesn’t do it, not even pressing the PS button bringing up the XMB. That sucks.

madness

right before he’d set into his delivery, he would stare down the third base line into the stands, clutch the ball and hold it up, and make what i can only describe as a painful grimace. before EVERY pitch. it got to such ridiculousness that everytime he did it, the fans down the third base line would wait for it and then start waving and saying “Hiiiiiiiii!!!”

kevin burkhardt had a field day with it, they did split screen so you could see his move and the fans reaction at the same time. definitely worth catching the encore imo.

What's with The Adams Family theme music for Bay?

I’m watching the late night replay of the Mets-Stros game on MLB-TV. Bay comes up to bat and the PA system is playing The Adams Family theme song.

Is his nickname “Lurch” or something?

"Never throw a slider to The Glider."

- Ed Charles, No. 5

by The Glider on Mar 10, 2010 12:23 AM EST reply actions

It's a "Seven Degrees of Jason Bay" thing. Here's how it goes:

Jason Bay’s music is the Addams Family theme song. Lurch is the butler for the Addams family. Carel Struycken played Lurch on the T.V. show. Struycken was born in The Hague, Netherlands. The most recent U.N. tribunal to take place at The Hague is the investigation into the 2005 assassination Rafik Hariri. Rafik Hariri was the Prime Minister of Lebanon. And, finally, the capital of Lebanon is Beirut.

So, as you can see, it all makes sense now…
