The Reasoning Behind Jacobs
Could this be the reasoning behind Mike Jacobs? I'll hand it to Omar:
"If you see the teams in the World Series, they’ve got power," Mets General Manager Omar Minaya said. "You’ve got to be able to break the game open. It’s not only home runs, it’s slugging. I think the right word is slug. You’ve got to get the extra bases."
Mike Jacobs can slug. World Series teams can slug. By the transitive property, the Mets can be in the World Series because Mike Jacobs can slug.

Who the hell is Chris Carter?
Seriously, I hate it when posters just make up imaginary people on here. Next thing, you’ll tell me, is that he’s roommates with “Nick Evans”
There is no hope.... there is no future....there is only GRISSIONZ
The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?
Nick who?
You complain about making up imaginary players, and then you make up people. Come on, man. That’s poor.
"Blinding ignorance does mislead us. O! Wretched mortals, open your eyes!"
Gil Hodges IS a Hall of Famer.

Are you sure he wasn't trying to say Mike Jacobs IS a slug?

I think it's snail
I think that’s the word.
Anyway, just crossing my fingers that Jacobs OPS’s around 120+ against righties like he did in 2008 and 2006 in the NL. I will toss out 2009 since he was in the majors. Doh! Well, KC plays against major league teams.
Hasn't this been studied
And it’s been shown that getting on base actually provides more wins? I have no idea where even to look that up, but I’m pretty sure I’ve read it, and I was surprised Kepner wrote that article without exploring that aspect. Maybe Posnanski is where I read it. Sounds like a Posnanski kind of thing.
You know who runs like a slug?
Mike Jacobs, Rod Barajas, Bengie Molina…maybe Omar got confused.
Who cares how bad the Bay deal will look in 2013, the world is going to end in 2012 anyway

Maybe Omar is really smart, but is just dumbing down his reasoning for us fans.
That, or he is absolutely retarded and has no clue how to run a baseball team.
What about our big national league park?
You know, the one supposedly built around defense and pitching?
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
Isn't that why we signed Jason Bay
Because we were going to a more defense and speed oriented team?
Oh. Logic fail
"We're investigating the investigative procedure of the investigation of Tony Bernazard"---Omar Minaya (he really didn't say it but he would"
and the reason we signed 0 pitchers this offseason.
And why we traded for Gary Matthews Jr. and resigned Alex Cora…wait, shit.
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
so did Chris Carter
