Ideal Batting Order From Metsblog
It's really not so bad.
They came up with something similar to what I would do.
Here's theirs:
1. Reyes
2. Pagan
3. Wright
4. Bay
5. Davis
6. Barajas
7. Frenchy
8. Castillo
9. Pitcher
I'd prefer something like this:
1. Reyes
2. Pagan
3. Davis
4. Wright
5. Barajas
6. Bay
7. Frenchy/Carter
8. pitcher/Castillo
9. Castillo/pitcher

Yeah...I'm regretting that part
But I don’t like Frenchy and Barajas back-to-back
I support Jenrry Mejia as a starter. Screw you Jerry Manuel for thinking he's a set-up man.
I submitted the lineup that Cerrone ultimately posted
Don’t want to overburden Davis so early in his career, especially if he’s getting comfortable. And I really like Castillo 8th. He’s likely to get on and get bunted over by the pitcher. And it breaks up the Frenchy-Barajas-pitcher free swinging black hole.
Trying to believe is my full-time occupation.
I don't remember exactly what mine was, but it was something like this"
Reyes
Wright
Davis
Bay
Pagan
Barajas
Francouer
Pitcher
Castillo
I’d be open to moving Pagan to 2nd and sliding everyone else down. If Frenchy were replaced with someone who can hit they would likely move up in front of Barajas.
mine is probably
castillo
reyes
Bay
Wright
Davis
Pagan
a bunch of people I don’t care about
I don’t think we’ll ever seen Castillo 9th and I’m not sure between him and Pagan who’s the better(worse) choice in the top, I just don’t want both of them up there.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
whoa, whoa, whoa...you're not a fan of the barajajajajajajajaaaaaaa
John Olerud, Hall of Famer. Got a nice ring to it.
The Reyes & Wright 1&3 connection
Was the best in baseball from 2005-2008. Wright drove in Reyes teamed up for more RBIs/runs than any other combo. Why switch it up?
I support Jenrry Mejia as a starter. Screw you Jerry Manuel for thinking he's a set-up man.
Having too many productive hitters at the top
was limiting the number of times Jerry could sacrifice early in games.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
I was looking for the exact stats to back it up
But my Bill James handbook is at home and I can’t find it online

Here is mine
1. Wright
2. Pagan
3. Reyes
4. Bay
5. Barajas

8. Pitcher
9. Castillo
I realize that Wright hitting leadoff is kind of wacky. Sure he has his power back this year, but he hasn’t gotten going yet. I want him to focus on just getting hits. I would prefer he hits .320 with 25 homers than .300 and 35 homers. As for Reyes, if Wright does a backwards thingy and hits for power anyway then Reyes might not feel like the leadoff spot needs power and he can hit for hits. Then they both get going.
Gas prices today are a lot like a pitcher's ERA. Anything under 3 is amazing, under 4 is pretty good and anything 5 and up is something you want to avoid.
that's a rather arbitrary preference
especially if his obp and slg are unchanged, then why do you honestly care

I kind of like this one, maybe flip Frenchy and Ike
I don’t know, but I remember reading an article or something about lineup optimization and it determined that your best hitter should be batting 2nd, I can’t remember where I read it at though. Any lineup of mine would have Wright 1st or 2nd, I just think you need to get your best players the most at-bats, period.
ain't had enough...
and currently
They sit at 5-3-4
I support Jenrry Mejia as a starter. Screw you Jerry Manuel for thinking he's a set-up man.
I'd go
Reyes
Wright
Pagan
Bay
Davis
Barajas
Francoeur
Pitcher
Castillo
If we had a deeper lineup, I’d love to see Reyes hitting 3rd. This will do though. Plus batting Wright second has the advantage of reducing the amount of times Manuel can bunt. He wouldn’t be crazy enough to sacrifice with Wright…. i don’t think.

Anything
as long as Castillo (or Cora, if he’s filling in for Castillo), bats ninth and the pitcher eighth.
Lead, follow, or get out of the way
kind of going out on a limb here
thoug mainly because a more “normal” one has basically been suggested a million times.
Reyes
Wright
Bay
Pagan
Davis
Francoeur
Barajas
Pitcher
Castillo
okay actually maybe it's not that strange at all wow
when i was typing it i thought it was.
I like the Metsblog lineup, mostly
1st of all: Anything that puts Reyes hitting leadoff is already 100x better
2: Wright IS the 3 hitter, historically speaking, probably the best overall batter (Has power, some speed, and hits for AVG)
3: I-Like-Ike… Batting 5th. He seems like that batter that will always get the bat on the ball, and have very few strikeouts (once he has been around a bit longer of course)
4: Barajas hitting 6th makes sense. If an inning starts on 3 or 4 hitter, Barajas is always hit the ball in the air (from what i’ve seen so far) and is a HR threat
5: Get Carter some starts in Right, let is be a competition with Frenchy
6: I think Castillo should hit 9th. An interesting theory mostly used by LaRussa. Pitcher 8th and Castillo 9th.
Mine with Beltran

Bay

Davis
Barajas

without Voltron

I'd try to break up Wright and Bay because of the K's and Frenchy and Rod because they can't take pitches
Reyes
Castillo
Wright
Davis
Bay
Rod
Pagan
Frenchy

If you try to read this thread from top to bottom you get extremely confused
And the names mean nothing to you anymore
