Defining "Good at Everything"
Over at beyond the boxscore poster adarowski attempts to find players in history who were literally good at everything. What's most interesting is the guy who came in at number 15 on his list. Only one other active player, utley, made the list.

Good to see Beltran appreciation.
I’m a little surprised Bonds didn’t make his list.
There may be sunny days ahead.
I suppose
maybe his poor arm and diminishing defense in the later years of his career would have an effect on his ranking?

seriously
Where are the rankings for “hustle” and “heart” and “plays the game the right way” and “knows how to win.”
Dare I say… GRISSION?
/can I play too?

Those rankings used to exist.
But David Eckstein’s career made all such lists obsolete.

For Beltran
You have to add to that list: hit HR of every Adam Wainwright’s curveballs, slide at home, the “6th tool”!
In lobby campaign for Chris Carter.
Also "Steve Phillips thinks you're a winning ballplayer"
Nate Mclouth 1, Carlos Beltran 0

Also, he says this after thr graphic
When I originally did the research, the minimum requirement wasn’t zero. It was one. This changed things dramatically. My list of 31 was then a list of 7—Trammell, Robinson, Bando, Beltran, McDougald, Utley, and Thompson.
But I guess he did look at strike 3…
Surprising list.
Just wondering outloud- shouldn’t Babe Ruth basically be on top of that list, because he could literally do everything, include pitch?

I'm guessing the positional adjustment kills him
Anyone at a non-premium position will probably miss the cut. No Ruth, no Bonds.

Yeah, but, I mean, no one else on that list is/was an All-Star calliber pitcher.
So, they aren’t good at everything.

Felipez Lopez was a pretty good pitcher, too.
May you be locked in a battle of wits against Jerry Manuel.

A few Ks, made a couple of hitters look foolish...
