I hope
The Verizon Fios guy John Maine has a good outing tonight
"We're investigating the investigative procedure of the investigation of Tony Bernazard"---Omar Minaya (he really didn't say it but he would"
Jerry may be feeling the heat more than we thought
This lineup is almost acceptable. Drop Cora and it would be close to decent
i dunno, they promised us Wright third

2B must bat second at all costs
It would be nice to see the guys who have little to no extra base hit ability bat at the bottom of the order for a change.
different enough for Jerry
Maybe he figures he should leave Bob Melvin with something easy to do as a welcoming gift.
well
I think Jerry is more like General Custer.
That would make Davey Johnson General Hooker then, correct?
Get’s the job done and lets his guys party all they want.

Who else is confident,
that by game’s end, Atilano will have more strikeouts than walks on the season?
I believe that's a given

The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?
Well, he has three Ks automatically from DW, and probably another two from Frenchy
So if he keeps the walks under three, he’s there

By the second inning
that will be accomplished
Um, because Wright is a much, much, much better hitter than Barajas????

Not this year buddy...
I guess you and Jerry think the same. Let me ask you this, how many HR’s and clutch hits does Barajas need before he can be put in the middle of the order? Or how many times does DW have to K and choke in the clutch for him to get dropped down??
Here are some stats:
Wrights’s OBP: .382
Barajas’s OBP: .303

Here we go
another night of Wright debates. Wright should absolutely be either the #2, #3 or #4 hitter considering his on base percentage numbers, and the lack of other options. He should hit nowhere else but one of those 3 spots imo.
rod barajas has a .303 on base percentage, david wright .382

I want the Mets to win just as much as everyone but lets face it, it isn;t happening without clutch hitting and right now, Wright just isn’t doing it. I hope he hits 3 HR’s tonight but to this point it isn’t happening and Bay hasn’t either nor Reyes. All I’m saying is let’s move the guy who has been clutch BARAJAS up in the order, at least to 5th.

by Evan_S on May 20, 2010 7:13 PM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
Small sample size
It’s still quite early in the season. Wright is a far better hitter in his career than Barajas is, and it is quite likely that Barajas will falter as the season wears on, based on his career record (a far larger sample). Likewise, Wright will probably hit better in those situations as the season wears on.
As I write this, Wright hits a 3-run double. That’s a small sample, too, but it’s nice to see. :)
I'm glad he came up big finally
thope he does this more often then I wouldn’t even be bringing this Barajas stuff up
Wright is no argument the best player
But sadly, Barajas has been the 2nd best Mets hitter this year, so maybe there’s a point.
Now does anyone see why he's slumping?

I'm pretty sure that's not why Jerry is mad
When did Maine hurt himself? Probably didn’t feel right warming up and tried to go out there anyway. Then after 1 batter called for the trainer. I’d be pissed too. Maybe it’s his “non pitching arm” feeling numb again, who knows. Maine offers absolutely no consistency or stability, and if I was Jerry I’d be pissed too.

I'm not worried
Meijia has had a whole day and a half to stretch out. He should be ready next week, lol.
Now I'm not a major league baseball GM
In fact, according to Steve Phillips, I’m not even close to being qualified. So this is just my most humble opinion, and again, for emphasis, I’m not smart enough to be a major league GM. Now, I think it would be beneficial, in situations like this where one pitcher is injured (Niese), another just got injured (Maine), and a third just being terrible (Ollie), to have your top starting pitching prospect starting games in the minors rather than pitching mop up innings in the majors so he could fill in or something. But again, I’m no GM.

it was fun in 1997 because it was brand new. It was fun in 1998 because I got to see the Yankees at Shea. It was fun in 1999 and 2000 because the Mets and Yankees had developed a legit on-field rivalry.
It hasn’t been fun since the Subway Series. It’s just a boring and pointless diversion from the season now.

The 2010 Mets- Hey, we may suck, but what did you expect?
God has no place here.
Only men, and bad relief pitching men at that…

Really?
A bases loaded walk angers you? When future generations unearth the Epic of Manuel, they will spend years figuring out the religious and social significance of the “bases loaded walk.”

Cut him some slack
BB was probably called for by Jerry, who couldn’t understand why they weren’t striking out trying to bunt the runners over.
im exhausted, literally
watching the mets is literally tolling my body physically
Now, when i hear a man gets 20 million dollars a year for playing a game, I say "good for him".
I empathize...
They’re exhausting my body.
Given that I'm losing my mind, I suggest that you reassess developing any sort of relationship with me.

MSN promotionals are hilarious, comparing nats to their opponents "which will own it?"
MSN slightly over selling the Nationals vs Pirates match up, methinks.

Since this is Jerry's Mets...
Why not start the game with the bullpen, let them pitch their 3, and then bring the starter in. This makes total sense to me in context, except that BBRod would not get the save opportunity.
