Placido Polanco is leading NL third basemen in All-Star voting.

Wright, Zimm, Reynolds and others are having better seasons
But it’s still pretty close. The FanGraphs WAR list has Zimm 1.8, Freese/Cantu 1.5, David/Reynolds/Headley 1.4, then McGehee/Polanco 1.3. I don’t think that Baseball Ref WAR has been updated recently. It has Polanco at 164 PAs but he’s had 191 so far this year. Of course defensive metrics in a 2 month span aren’t very telling, so offensive performance should probably be weighted heavier. Zimm/Wright/McGehee seem like the best choices right now.

But then
there are different schools of thought on All-Star voting, including factoring a player’s track record, e.g., if I were picking “the best third baseman in the league,” who would it be? David’s 2009 wasn’t great, but over the past few years, trying to compare Placido Polanco is kind of a joke. McGehee could be a ‘uge flash in the pan, for all we know. For my dollars, you have to look at Dubby, Zimmerman Letter, and and an Aramis Ramirez if he’s not playing horribly.
I agree Zimmerman deserves it
a lot more than Placido. looks like Phillies fans are voting

only so they reform voting

did you write in Ike, and Wright, Barajas
I did, I know he won’t beat Albert but was hoping to get him on the board.
I don’t vote just Mets, I try to vote who is playing the best sometimes. I couldn’t put Reyes being he wasn’t playing, and no way I put Castillo. None of our OF have been playing well enough to go, maybe Bay is starting to.

Now, the world can no longer deny the veteran grissiony grission of on Placido Polanco

Reyes, Bay, Wright, Barajas.
Wrote in Ike 25 times.
Elsewhere, I’m prepared to go “most likely to knock off the ballot-leading Phils” (I went Kelly Johnson at 2B, and mixed Ethier, Holliday, and Soriano in the OF with Bay).
I mean, Dick Torino’s in the 3rd OF slot now, too.

Wrote in Ike as well.
The following should definitely appear on Jeopardy...
ANSWER: They were invented in Philadelphia by the city's favorite icon Benjamin Franklin. However, they are very rarely used by people in the city and its surrounding areas.
QUESTIONS: What are logic, reason, and rational thought?
wow that's an awful ballot
Zimmerman’s not even in the top 5, Rollins over HanRam, Dicktorino over anyone, and Carlos Ruiz second (and Yadier f*cking Molina first). Ridiculous.
2009 Did Not Happen
I am way less offended by Polanco at third
than I am Rollins at shortstop. The guy hasn’t played almost all year

me too, he has barely played for three weeks
Gas prices today are a lot like a pitcher's ERA. Anything under 3 is amazing, under 4 is pretty good and anything 5 and up is something you want to avoid.

that sh*t drives me nuts
even these moron phillies fans should realize it hurts them to load the ASG up with anything but the best players now that it counts for something.

I used to vote that way for the AL team- vote for the worst players.
I did that at only one position this year- I lobby Yuniesky Betancourt to All-Star Game.

Okay so I made five different email addresses and voted one hundred twenty five times for David and Jose.
One. Hundred. Twenty. Five. Times.

seriously?
i get halfway through a ballot and get distracted
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
It was either that or homework.
There’s no getting distracted.

i finished it a few days ago and I'm not really enjoying the open world play as much
im probably going to end up trading it in soon while I can still get top value.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
Ah, to be young and in college,
and have all the time in the world to play video games.

I have more time to play video games since I graduated
come home from work, no homework/irresponsible weekday drinking to do
The only video game I play is Rockband.
Every other type of video game frustrates me. I’ve watched my friends go from starting on the football team at school to being trapped in their rooms after school playing WOW. Now all games like that scare me.

lol video games are the new gateway drug to WoW.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
That's the reason I haven't played WoW
I would so end up playing it 14 hours a day. At least with other video games, they end.
I was afraid that'd happen to me, because I have a really addictive/obsessive personality.
I downloaded the Lord of the Rings online game a few years ago, when they were having a free trial around Christmas. It really didn’t do anything for me, I don’t know. I don’t “get” online games.

me neither
i don’t get the point of games with no endings

immediately set up his laptop, and play WoW in my room. It was tragilarious to watch.

wow, you are dedicated
i applaud this, even though it is technically exactly whats wrong with ASG voting.

is the current starting AL second baseman?

I applaud your dedication.
I’ve only got 2 addresses myself, but I suppose I could create a few fake ones. MLB doesn’t check IP addresses, do they?

I stopped caring about All-Star Game voting after last season, or maybe two years ago,
when the Cubs fans mobilized, and deluged the “ballots” such that various Cubs were leading vote-getters, including Aramis Ramirez.
Basically, the only reason I care about All-Star voting, now, is because the little “AS” marks on BB-Ref pad resumes. The more accolades David and Jose get, the better their case is for making the HoF in twenty years or so.

Yeah to me thats the major problem with these things
in both the NFL and MLB Probowl/ASG’s count a lot toward whether you make it or not. Which is ridiculous considering fans vote for them.
I wonder if Carl Everett believes Jamie Moyer exists.
It's just not the same after Milledge didn't get voted in last year.
